thanks. and great, a true Cane Corso (it's pronounced con-eh, a lot of people don't know that, b/c i didn't before i started researching, lol) is suppossed to be indifferent to others unless truely threatened or his owner/family is threatened. these ones you see overly dog/people aggressive are incorrect by the standard and imho should not be bred b/c they are not stable temperament. at home, he may be a little standoffish until he gets to know someone, but by no means is he aggressive... he just backs off, stays close to me and feels a person out if he doesn't know them, then a couple minutes later he goes up to greet.

in the dog park, he does great as well. sometimes he feels he needs to "straighten out the pack" and try to put a dog in their place if the other dog tends to be overly aggressive or dominate but he has never been aggressive torwards them for that situation, he just likes to "break up the fight" so to speak. the only time i have seen him aggressive torwards another dog is when a husky was being aggressive torwards our mini daschund at the dog park, and he is real protective of her so he handled business and that was that

ive made it a point since day one to socialize him and get him out. he is well mannered and tempered. i won't have 120lb dog be ill tempered with me or others for no reason unprovoked and justifiable in my eyes, especially with a baby on the way and smaller dogs around the house. the instinct to protect is there, and thats all i want... i hope he never has to show/use it.

didn't realize it, but i bent the rocker arm bridges when i took them off (night shift too long does this crap to you) so i reserved some from napa and plan to pick them up sometime today if they show up from the local warehouse.

also, gotta get an extra dowel pin for the intake manifold, i can't get one of them out of the old head, and the new one didn't have them in there. i was gonna go ahead and fight with that SOB, but guess i'll spare that until later... im dreading them bottom bolts on that intake manifold

Thanks for the info. Have been looking at dogs for awhile now and the cane did come up on the search a couple times so I've read about their behavior but it is always better to hear about them first hand. I totally agree with you these larger dogs need socialization from the day you bring them home.

Looks like you made some great progress last night, nicely done.

night shift has me so screwed up. so i couldnt sleep, ofcourse. decided to tackle the pita intake/exhuast manifolds

the bottom intake bolts i slightly thread into the holes and made sure the bowl washers were outta the way, and slid the intake take over them. i put a socket/extensions on the bottom back on and taped it to it so i didnt have to fight trying to get to it once i put the intake on. made it much easier.

didnt seem like it wanted to pull tight very easy but i muscle it in to place. hope its seated well and i dont get no leaks.

dang exhaust manifold flanges were a major pita for some reason though

geez. had quite an eventful past 2 days but shes running! fought with what i thought was a leaky water pump, then realized it was actually coming from the bottom of the tstat housing (remember i replaced ALL of this stuff with new stuff). 2 gaskets and a lot of *****ing later, me and my dad decide to take a straight edge to the housing... and this thing had like a freakin 1/8th inch bow/warp to it. dang china crap. took it and the receipt back to the parts store and got a new one... problem solved, no more leak...

so i thought. kept noticed coolant dripping from the frame rail on the passenger side by the firewall... yea, you guess it... heater core is effed. so i bypassed it for the time being.

still idles a little rough, i noticed theres a broke sensor/clip on the passenger side of the block, not sure which one it is but its electrically connected, just not very well, so ima have to replace that.

hopefully i can figure out the rough idle issue, at WOT it takes pretty good and gets down the road about like any of the other XJ's ive owned before
