thanks man. i'm thinking about plastidipping them black to see how it looks, but really i'd love to get them powdercoated charcoal, but i may just paint them gunmetal/charcoail and see how that holds upsince i won't wheeling it really.

as far as the head, im ordering a reinforced head from clearwater cyl head in a couple of weeks. just need to get the new bolts and gasket set and i should be good to go.

Very nice XJ! I love those wheels, nice clean look. I'm anxious to see what you do with it. I actually just put the head back in my jeep last night and I know how heavy that thing is. Just a tip to reinstall it is to get a buddy and screw a bolt and washer into one of the rear rocker holes to be able to hold onto the back of the head easier and be able to control it when you go to putting it back on. I'm happy to see that your taking the time to clean up wiring looms and what-not, the world needs more people like you to do that haha

Keep up the good work and anxious to see some pics of it out on the sand

thanks man. yea, it's heavy no doubt. i'll definitely get some help reinstalling it. i plan to use to of my old head bolts, cut off the heads and notch then with a grinder so i can unscrew them with a flat head and put one in the front and one in the back and then set the gasket/ head on so i don't have to fool around lining up the head/gasket.

and yea, i figured while it's all out, i may as well take the time to make it look somewhat decent. it still won't be as clean as i'd like it, but it'll be much better when it's done. i'll update this again this weekend with some more pix of the wireloom/reinstall of things.

you and me both about wanting to see it on the sand

16" Rubicon wheels man! Otherwise known as "Moabs". They are 5x4.5 (our lug pattern) up until 07 I believe, then they switched to 17s on 5x5, but theres still quite a few people running the 17's with adapters.

I got a set of 5, 2 practically new mtr kevlars, a brand new old style mtr (spare) and 2 wore old mtr's for $400 off CL

wife said the head showed up yesterday, bolts should be here today and hoping the gasket shows up by this weekend so i can at least get the head set on and get some other stuff bolted up that i've held off on until i get the head on.

got bored at work and starting reading some headlight stuff, decided i wanted to have the headlights upgraded before i got it on the road and give me something to do in the meantime so i ordered some black 7x6 ebay housings and a projector retrofit kit with some mini h1 projectors/shrouds and 5k hids/ballasts w/ h4 adapters. give me something to tinker with in b/t the motor work.

plan to retrofit them, paint the shrouds black and vht niteshades an extra set of signal/corner lights i got.

head bolts/ gasket has arrived says the wife!

can't wait to get this thing straight. took all the dogs to the vet to get their shots so they'll be up to date for some beach fun. our 7.5 month old Cane Corso pup weighed in at 82lbs. I'll get some pix soon of all of them in the XJ

this pic was months ago when Canon was younger

meet Canon. he is NOT a pitbull or a boxer. i love pits / boxers but i get tired of hearing it. now he is getting bigger, maybe people will realize pits / boxers typically aren't 100+ lbs

Daisy, our mix, in the background hanging her head out the window as usual

Good looking Jeep and pooch. How is the Cane's temperament with other animals? I can see from the pics he gets along with your other dogs just fine but how does he handle unfamiliar animals?
