Default Project Alaska xj

Bought a decent lil 96 5 speed for $600 and started work soon as I got it home. Had some parts from an old build; so lift, tires, recovery gear, etc already taken care of! Got the lift on for the most part, some engine goodies and some other things done to include fixing a very poorly wired trailer hook up that resulted in some interesting electrical issues (see pic of the fun I found after pulling the taillight)

Scotch lock city

. Just need to make some suspension adjustments, fix the terrible floor pans, and build the full widths before this summer comes around!

There is nothing to offer here in Juneau..lol We have no place to wheel here.. The city closed all the spots years ago..

We Take the Ferry north to Haines for a weekend or a few days and just go nuts(kids in a candy store) before we head back to Juneau..

Now don't get me wrong..there are few places here in Juneau..Just dont get caught in those closed areas lol They lock it down good here.

Man that would suck.... lol I'm right in between wasilla and anchorage, so I've got access to some pretty decent trail systems. Couldn't imagine having to hop on the ferry just to hit some trails haha, but then again Juneau is small enough that people are gonna know quick if you are on the trails so I would guess it's worth it lol

Got word of maybe getting the front axle dropped off tomorrow been waiting on a time for our schedules to work out and with him being a plow truck driver and a huge snow storm coming through, things haven't quite worked out. Should be on full widths in a few short months assuming this new job I'm working in promising!! Pics to come soon as it arrives

Really only got 1 picture from tonight, but had some issues with my fixed long arms pushing the axle forward. Got one half fixed tonight, doing the other half tomorrow and rolling the jeep out of the garage for the first time since the lift went in! Just a temp fix until I make my own radius arm setup to go with the full widths

Got everything all bolted up back together and good to go. Need a longer front driveshaft since it's on 8" of lift, but that's all in due time with the sye I've got to install yet. Should be plowin snow in no time once I get all the little things fixed and wired up

Not the best at welding sheet metal, but this surely has to be better than the pos choice of aluminum stove pipe lol. Got some
work ahead of me, but this thing was too clean outside to pass up

Finally decided on the route I'm going in the rear with the full widths. The plan for next winter is to order some stuff from Clayton off-road and turn the leafs into a triangulated 4-link kit. Don't really need the articulation in Alaska, but will need it with where I plan on moving to in the future.

Brackets for the d44 swap are on the way! Should be picking up a lunchbox locker and spare axle shafts once I get my next check. Now to dig out the rear axle and get started on brackets and cleaning it up a bit

Not sure exactly since I bought em 2nd hand, but I think they are 18" cobra svt wheels. Didn't fit my buddies ram, but bolted up to my xj so I went with it
