Nate's 96 XJ Sport 5 Speed
Things to do list:
Rip up carpet
Assess damage
Clean up rust... stitch in new patches of metal
Bedline the floor
Reinstall
Exhaust- Replace Cat and Muffler
Ball joints
Brakes
Clean up rust on body
Paint
Lift
Bumpers + Lights
It begins!
Starting ripping up the carpet. I have two stuck torx in the back... if all else fails I will grind the edges flat and use a wrench. I have got the front carpet up Drivers side needs new metal. Passenger needs some small patches. Waiting to borrow an angle grinder now to get rear torx.
My progress so far:
My floor! Noes! Actually it is not to bad. Will post more pics with progress.

So got the rear carpet out today. I used a grinder to square the two torx bolts off. One I got out with a wrench the other ended up being cut off. It wouldn't even budge with heat.
I started using the grinders to blow away the rust up front. Cut a patch with the grinder but will need some tools with more finesse to get a better cut.
Progress pics. Slow and steady wins the race!
Next weekend I am not working on it due to lack of funds, but the weekend after I plan to finish the prep on the Friday, rivet the metal on Saturday, and liner on Sunday if all goes well.

Found a mig today. My dad's buddy had it buried in the back of his garage. No more pop rivets!
I already have the pieces cut and ready to go in. After I am done this I need to scrub the crap out of the floor and than sand. There are 3 bolts I have to drill out. One bolt on each seat was so rusty that the head just spun off with barely any pressure, and the torx for the seat belt (which now that I have a welder I wish I never cut off! doh). Then I will lay down some POR-15 and bedliner.
I will weld them in tommorow and take some pics then.

Finally did the bedliner. No pics of the steps of welding and filling in the seams though. I was in the zone while doing that and the sanding/cleaning. I worked non-stop for a good 10 hours!
Due to a tighter budget (my girlfriend had a babysitting client move on her) I had to use spray on bedliner. I am just glad I can put the interior back in now. I couldn't drill out the two broken off bolts for the seat and 1 for a seatbelt though. Since the bolt sticks out the bottom I plan on welding a nut to the bottom of the bolt and then zapping it out with the impact gun. I have to wait until I get all the interior back in though since the welder and air tools are at my old man's house.
