Mudding was fun but I'm not too sure that I'll ever do it again. The clean up sucks! And in addition to everything being muddy, my engine bay got a good soaking during the whole thing. My check gauges light is on and the battery gauge is down to about 9. I'm letting the battery charge right now and hoping that helps, but I think the alternator might be dying...

This morning I drove around with a bunch of accessories on to see if the battery would go down. It went from about 14 while running down to 9 while running in about 20 minutes. I took it home and shut it off. After it rested for a bit, I checked the battery, and it gave off 12.5 volts with the car off and about 13.8 with the car on.
Anyway, since the battery drained while the car was running, my first thought was that the alternator was failing, so I pulled it out. It was pretty muddy all over, but I took it to autozone to have it tested, and it worked great. The guy told me to clean it out with some electrical parts cleaner, so after I did that, I brought the battery to autozone to have it tested too and it worked good as well. I also had the alternator tested once more to make sure it worked after the cleaning. I also checked the electrical going from the battery to the connections that plug into the alternator, and they were fine as well.
After all that, I decided to just put everything back together and hope that the cleaning might fix the issue. The last part I went to do was put the belt back on, but I had to loosen the belt tensioner a little more to get the belt on... and when I tried to loosen it, the belt tensioner bolt snapped in half
So now I'm completely stuck, and I couldn't even replace just the bolt because it's metric and like 9 inches long. I'm either going to have to go to the junkyard or the dealer tomorrow, which is going to suck because I'm car-less at the moment.

kelly4,
My sincerest apologies but when I read your last post I was LMAO!! I feel your pain. I just had the breaks done and new tires and now I have this gawd awful squeal on right turns that I need to figure out.
Good luck with finding the bolt. If you are not familiar with easy outs they can be your best friend.

it still sucks though. I'm probably going to spend the next few months taking it apart and cleaning everything little by little lol
Good news though, I was able to get the belt tensioner bolt from the dealer for 7 bucks and everything works again. I drove around for an hour and my battery held up good, so hopefully all those problems are gone now.

I finally was able to pick up my roof rack from the powder coat shop on monday (I had to take it back because the guy did a really bad job the first time). The finish still isn't perfect but it's good enough... And I think it looks great on the jeep

I love my KC 57 Series lights!

I also added two brake lights in the back. I still have to wire them up though.
