Do you have sway bar disconnects?

no, I just have the RE links from my kit but they're not quick disconnects or anything. I already ditched the rear sway bar though

Nice to see the progress.

Looking forward to seeing the finished roof rack.

Thanks! I can't wait to get the rack back

Anyway, I decided that I want to put on my Bushwackers sometime soon, so I ordered a new hardware kit and decided to sand them down to get rid of some scratches and the bumper coating that the previous owner put on them.

I wet sanded them with some 400 grit and then picked up some satin black Krylon Fusion paint. I tested out the paint on one of the smaller pieces first, and it turned out to be very glossy. Definitely not what I expected from the so called satin finish... here's one painted piece next to a plain sanded piece:

I can't decide if I like the glossier black or not though. It has more of a color matched feel, which I guess I don't mind. Here's a painted piece next to a plain sanded piece next to the body:

Right now I'm stuck between going with the glossy, paint matched look or going with a plastidip finish. I plastidipped my old wheels and I loved the color and it held up nicely. It would also cover up any scratches because it goes on pretty thick... What do you think?

Kelly4,

I like the gloss black. But then again I would be tempted to go with a red or even a yellow.

haha i'm not that daring yet
I think I might paint another piece with plastidip to compare it to the gloss

lol, here's what I'm thinking...I'll paint it the gloss black, maybe even put a clear coat on it, and roll with it that way for a while. If I decide I don't like it, I can always put plastidip over the gloss, but I couldn't put gloss over the plastidip.

I painted up the bushwackers today with the gloss black, and it looks really good (sorry no pics yet). Now I just have to wait for the hardware kit and get the guts to put them on

The powder coat is finally all done and fixed up for my rack too, so I'm going to pick it up tomorrow morning before my brother and I go wheeling at The Mounds!

They look good glossy. Your jeep paint still looks great so you can pull off glossy.

I went to The Mounds ORV park today in Mt. Morris with my brother, and we had a blast! I did a little bit of everything...some trails, a few rocks, and a lot of mud. Way more mud than I expected. So much that we got about 40 jeep waves on the ride home

It was my first time wheeling, but it didn't take long to get the hang of things. It was definitely the best 15 bucks I've spent in a while. Anyway, it's time for some pics!

here's the before photo

we accidentally went down an atv trail that got a little tight

so I backed it out

not long after we got there

trying some more trails...this one was really cool

then we took a bigger trail over to the rock crawl area. I decided to do a little flexing on the way

finally got to the rock crawl area

I didn't do much more than this little spot, but the whole rock area was awesome. It was a little too technical for my first time, and my rig's not set up to handle some of these, but I'm definitely going to try the rocks a little more next time!

Then we took a trail and ended up in nice mudding area

it was quite fun

and here's the aftermath

all dried up

the engine bay really took a beating...wasn't prepared for this one

and so did the bottom

but the mud didn't last long... after work, and plenty of jealous stares, it was time to clean this rig up

$20 in quarters later and here it is

And that was pretty much my day. My brother and I had a great time and i'm sure this was the first of many wheeling trips! Might watch the mud a little next time though haha, and I've also got some ideas for mods that would help out a bit next time too
