I guess I need to check the Athens area list. I've seen several in Atlanta but anything that has a decent price is gone almost instantly. I saw one this morning, a 96 4x4 that looked to be in good shape (had a couple minor things the owner listed) but it disappeared before I could even make a phone call. I'm looking for a 92-01 xj, 4x4, in decent shape. I don't mind (and actually want to) doing some work on it though. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, but I've enjoyed doing some work on my daughter's 98 2wd sport. I guess you could say I have caught the jeep bug. At 55 years old I'm not looking to do any real serious off road stuff, but maybe a just a small taste of it. LOL

definitely check athens. I saw a couple very clean ones with relatively low miles on them the other day.
haha never too old to get into it. and believe me it's addicting. it starts out with "maybe I'll just upgrade the u-joints" then it's "well if I ever DO get stuck, I'll need a winch. gotta be safe" then "if I only had slightly bigger tires I could get up/over that" (repeat as necessary) then one day you walk outside to a pretty built rig wondering how it got this far.

Replacing the steering gear box yesterday turned into replacing the steering gear box, power steering pump and high pressure line.
On the bright side she drives like a dream now.
out of nowhere I think I lost a couple teeth in my steering box. tons of play in the wheel and some nice popping noises. I was gonna grab a durango box but the JY wanted 125 for those vs 50 for the replacement cherokee box so I went with another cherokee box.
not exactly in the most optimal financial situation to be doing an unplanned repair like this so the Durango box will have to come later. but everything went pretty well. did it at work so I had a lift and all my air tools. I'm spoiled now, I hate having to work on my back in a driveway with just hand tools lol.
