Okay so I went to put in my adjustable track bar yesterday and had to cut the bolt to separate the track bar from the upper mount because it wouldn't come out. I figured I'd just drill the remainder of the bolt out since I had to widen the hole for the new bolt anyways. Well this damn bolt I swear is like grade 8000 and I've burned up 6 drill bits trying to drill this thing out. Ive tried hammering and it and I tried to put it in the shop press but I can't get it to sit in there well enough. I'm running out of ideas. Anybody got any ideas on how to get this SOB out so I can install the new bolt, get this track bar in, and get her back on the road? My last resort is going to be to wait till Monday and take the mount in to school and take the oxyacetylene torch to it and of that fails I guess I'll hope hat the local junk yard has an xj I can get the mount off of and hopefully be able to separate that track bar from it.

I just ended up getting one from a salvage yard. 15 bucks lol. wish I'd done that before I burned up 40 bucks in drill bits lol.
thanks for the link though.
anybody got any tips on centering the axle now that I've got the adjustable track bar in? the instructions that came with it aren't very specific.

been a while since I updated this or been on here at all haha.
got a few things done since my last update. pulled the little rub strips off and did the bottoms in truck bed liner along with the front and rear bumpers. welded some two hooks on the front end, got some stereo stuff done, replaced my headliner, trimmed the fenders up, wired up a PA to my CB fabricated a mount for the firestik, and I just ordered a spool of LED lights that I'm gonna wire up to a switch and mount up under the body to use as some rock lights.
just filed my taxes today so I'm trying to debate on throwing my return at the XJ or if I wanna buy a bike. if I do spend it on Alison, I'm thinking either buying some tubing and sheet metal to fab up a bumper, new wheels, new shocks, and a new set of shackles to level out the rear. it's kinda up in the air. but I'll throw up some updated pictures tomorrow.

you finally doin a 4wd swap? congrats. I actually need to rebuild mine. my T-case chain is starting to slip when I'm trying to crawl up something and I've gotta put some throttle in it.
but yeah it's gonna be a tough choice. I've wanted a bike for so long and it'll be great to have a second means of transportation if I need to put the XJ down for a week or something to do some maintenance or upgrade something, but at the same time, that refund check will go a pretty decent way towards some upgrades. it's gonna be a tough decision for sure.

yeah I'd just pick up a junk yard tranny and t case, rebuild the t case and if you can swing it have the tranny rebuilt. then you'd have one eck of a solid set up. or just run the tranny into the ground and then rebuild it.

I can pick up a tranny for $200 at the JY with a warranty. Thats the plan and i just need a case for cheaper than what the JY wants ($250). I've got the front axle, driveshafts, and crossmember all for $120 lol. Sucks now that i have money i cant find anything.
