Heres my 89 2 door 5 speed i traded my 90 lumina 4 door primered black little car for it... Car has 302,000 miles on it but it ran good so he traded me... He had the jeep on the side of the road so i figured why not ask? lol... It needed some things and still does before i can build it the way i want... gotta get it running right first... It ran like crap but a 96 motor was swapped in and the vacuum lines werent right so after he signed the title i went over and hooked up the MAP sensor and then drove it home
needs front and rear brakes, the 4x4 did work but has now quit and im just gonna swap in the cable kit cause im done messing with that, Cat and muffler, windshield, and tranny mounts but there freakin high dollar for that junk tranny... Already got new air filter, tires and wheels, cap and button, plugs, oil all that kinda good stuff... trying to get the thing to quit cuttin off when i make right hand turns right now... thats in under the cherokee thread section already...
Planning on finding a power ram or wagon and swapping in everything from the motor to axles under the cherokee... I had a 79 power wagon i got off ebay for $350 with dana 60 axles front and rear with a running not smoking 360/727 and some crappy all wheel drive transfercase but the body was shot... was gonna swap into my ram charger but lost work and i got stupid and took it all to the scrap yard... yeah... never been so mad at myself... would have been great for this project now that im back up and going... Heres the pics hope you like so far!
tires and wheels were $100 with 80% tread
door mod free...
other mods seen free... (jeep was stock when i got it)

Heres what all ive done so far... ive trimmed my fenders up and pulled the fender flares... also on the back i left just enough to weld the two parts back together alittle so the jeeps body stays strong... i think it gave me about 2 inches of clearance... on the front now that the bumpers off i need to trim flush with the bottom of the grill but i dont think you can see that in the pics

I mounted my headlights in the grille itself because they sat more flush and plus when i took the bumper off all the tabs broke so i wasnt messing with sticking it back on so i did this in stead. Also this is a speaker bar i found in the junkyard on the back of a XJ so i pulled the fabrics off... herculined it and stuck some $15 speakers i got from a warehouse in it... im redoing the little bit of a headliner i have so i havent stalled the light yet but im using the light that had the switch instead of it being flush and running key on power to it since the doors are on and off...
$15 speakers at a wholesale clearance place...
$5 for the speaker bar... JY... and left over herculiner...

This is how i cleaned up my chopped top... used 1x1 square tube and split it down the middle to fit over the old windows pinch weld... also welded in steel plate first all the way around... now i got handles so people can get in the back seat without flipping the seats forward all the time... still got some cleaning up to do with it to smooth it all out but pretty much done...
chop top...free
metal plate for the C pillar handle... $10
1x1 square tube was off my old trailers rails i took off along time ago... free

My next project... get started on my front and rear bumpers... i got the front one for free and the back for $5... The front was originaly for a 79 power wagon so its gonna take some cutting down but itll work great... and boy is it strong... lol... another buddy gave me his 2000 F150 tow loops from the front of his truck since he got a bull guard... so im gonna fab them in somehow also... The back will just be a round tube and i havent decided on bringing it around the sides yet... we will see...
front bumper free... just weld wire and cuttin blades
rear bumper... saw it in the scrap pile when dropping off some scrap... was like $3...

finally pretty much finished up my front bumper... it was made for a power wagon so i had alot of cutting to do... i chopped the mounts off and moved them about an inch in and welded back... both ends where they curved in i chopped off and took about 6inches off each side... then rewelded back... then i cut the top half off since it was way over my grill and capped off with some metal from my old stock bumper... i also went and grinded down all my welds flush and bondo'd alittle to make the joints look about as smooth as i could... i was bondoing up the rear chop anyways which ill show in a minute... and hit with some satin black... need to prime the bondo areas first and go back and re spray with some plack paint... it was fixin to rain so i had to get something on it... heres acouple pics...
front bumper... free
