Didn't get any work done on the jeep today. I did however do some work on my daily driver. Just turned 15k miles on the Duramax, changed the fuel filter since they are suppose to be changed every 10-15k miles.

I'd like to kick the GM engineer right in the nuts, you have to pull the fender liner and fender flare to access the filter, then in order to prime and bleed the new filter you have to pull the tube on the intake to access it.

I used the lift at work and the tools there to get it done, only took 45 mins but easily would have doubled the time if it weren't for the lift.

Oh and by the way..... this came today too.

Sounds good, let me know.

Cav fab is shipping out 5 kits this week supposedly. According to them I'm 3-4 on the pre-order list, so hopefully my kit is in the batch going out this week.

If that's the case I should be back in business by next month, fingers crossed.

That skid plate looks awesome. I like JCRs stuff. What are your plans for painting it?

Just some black implement paint from good ol tractor supply. Probably a semi-gloss.

That stuff is pretty darn tough and easy to touch up

Thanks guys. Don't know why, but I was under the impression that they all did. Guess it's not really NEEDED though except for the midsection where you bash it on rocks. Though, I think I'll still get the wrap-around style just for extra strength. Definitely a fan of Hooligan so I'll probably go with them eventually.

Yeah, I doubt it. I think pretty soon here I'm gonna get some for the midsection though so I can get sliders and have all that welded together.

Definitely a wise investment. Prior to installing the mids my doors wouldnt open and close freely when the jeep was flexing. I wheeled it a few trips after the mid stiffeners and it didnt matter how flexed the jeep was the doors opened and closed great.

That alone was justification in my mind. It also seems to be a little quieter (less rattle) and more responsive while driving.

Yeah that's what I keep hearing. I can't wait! I can hear creaking and twisting every time I make a turn! lol.... even more when I flex it out. So I'm definitely trying to plan on that next.

Installed some strong arm lift gate struts during my lunch today. No pics but it's not a very exciting task. Tired of having to prop the lift gate up because the end of the struts was broken.

Got them on Amazon and they seem to be good quality. Metal ends, lift gate goes up on its own. 20-something bucks well spent.

Just did it in the 99 and yes I see why they are popular.

Save the old ones for the hood. Order 10mm ball stud mounts on eBay and that's all you need to use it.

Nice! Opening the hood while holding a toddler can be cumbersome. I like the self-rising hood idea.

Also cumbersome once you a) lift your Jeep b) install a winch bumper or c) both.

Was actually looking into that. Im going to convert the rear hatch strut mounts into something i havent seen before (at least on xj's). The struts with the silly ball end mounts seem to pop off occasionally.

The ends for the struts are male m6 , sourced some m6 heim joints. Going to make some brackets to mount them up. Just a little side project because I like tinkering.
