Default Super man joints starting

My pic sux.... im sorry it got dark I worked 9-9 today but I was able to saw up my material for my joints. I am using a 3" x .500 wall DOM and machining my own Johnny Joint housings. Ill use Currie internals. The plan is to Do 8 superman joints for the 4 lower arms for a front and rear 3 link. The extra piece is in case I mess one ups since I am making these manually.
I just wanted to emphasize that this is the same material they normally use for competition Dana 60 axle tubes. I would use regular Johnny Joints but..... Come on...1.5" threading 6" long and 1/2" wall joint housings.... Bring on the beefy!

this is to make 8 o these!!!!

This is one in action SUPERMAN JOINTS!!!!

Ill try and so some step by step photos on these.

I don't know how many guys have a little more advanced toys like a decent lathe but you can make about anything... I'm going to document the machining of one of these to try and show all of the steps.
Tomorrow Ill do all the facing.... Then back to the real job......

Man, I need to come hang out in your shop for awhile, but the drive would be a booger!!! LOL!! I got to use all of those goodies when building my stuff. Unfortunately, I don't own any of them, some day though. It's the good ole "buddy system" that I have!! LOL!! I do not have a ton of time in front of either a lathe, or a vertical mill. I know enough to set up a job, run it, slowly, and NOT crash tools!! IMHO, that is a good start!!

Tooling is $$$$$$!

Great looking work as usual Andy, keep it coming. BTW, I have not forgot about our little deal, I hope you haven't either!! LOL!! (hint, hint)

I know.....you're waiting on me!!

I know I have some pretty cool material waiting in the wings for you to decide your setup....... I am dropping my bender with one of my buddies this weekend and another is taking my spring compressors... I understand the buddy system.

I didn't get to do any more on the big-ole joints and Im waiting for extra cash for the joints to fill them. There is no way around the cost other than having the ball centers CNC machined for me but the guys at Currie are really cool and I want to support them.... By the way, anyone wondering about joints I have done my own destructo on lots of joints. skyjacker, BDS, Currie, Tera..... Nothing works as well or lasts like the currie joints. The special 88 is the same poly I use in my bushings and every part is hardened. Even the C clips are higher quality than anything I have seen yet.

Kind of off topic but I was surfing your website and the products look awesome. On your Long Arms you have for sale are you going to offer any kind of cross member or frame rail mounts for it?

I have been promising that for almost a year and have not yet come up with a simple enough design that is cost effective. I Don't want my long arm kit to be over 700.00 but i don't want to make a crap part either... I also want to make a cross member that works for a 3 link or a rad arm set up.... I'm hoping by the end of summer Ill have something.
Thanks

Thanks guys. I only do welds like that on parts for photography. They will look really nice under powder coat. They are pretty but a more constant structural weld is better and will be used on actual parts. It has a taller rounder and smoother shape.

Aw thanks, I actually had to let my 2 employees go for a while because things have slowed down so much since tax season is over and people a spending money on vacations. I hope they pick up after the 4th I hope this grows enough to realistically provide some work around here locally.
