A wise man told me to just DD the new one, park my truck for truck things only and then use my red one for off roading! I think he brings up a good point and I just might do that for now. Rather than spend a ton of cash into the new one I could just do a simple 3" lift with some 31's or so and ride it out as is. If I decided later down the road I want to keep one over the other at least then I could swap parts and have all the kinks worked out. Not to mention the new one has a good amount of miles on it so who knows really how long it will last without a rebuild. Condition wise it needs a few things and currently fixing those up.

First Repair: Power steering pressure hose was leaking had pin holes in it. I almost lost the jeep yesterday lol, had my son get in to turn the wheel and see where it was leaking from. Turns out it shot oil all over the manifold from a couple pin holes on hose and nearly caught the jeep on fire. Good thing I was ready for it and had extinquisher handy. Not knowing the holes were there and the direction it would come out I didn't want to take any chances. (Navy Firefighting training pays off). New hose will be here today!

Lucky you got out of that and didn't get hurt!

Sounds like a reasonable plan to keep different vehicles for different purposes.

You and me both but I flagged my son to stop turning the wheel the moment I saw it catch fire which in turn burned off quickly enough for it to just put itself out before I needed to go to plan B!

No damage reported and of course no one hurt!

Awesome you got a cheap jeep to have fun with, gives you some options and less pressure on the more expensive time consuming project. I'm at the same point i think. Good luck with the new jeep.

Good find on the new XJ Irish. Wish I could find a deal like that around here. I am searching CL frequently for a cheap one and its rare to fine one below $1500.

Yep, lots of crazy prices out here. Thats why I try to scoop up any that are in decent condition for around $1000. And that has been a whopping 2 in about a year. Well technically 3 since I found one for a friend. I almost bought a 2 door for $600 a couple months ago but the front was smashed in past the point of repair. So yes, I am very jealous of Irishs find.

Promise I'll stop hyjacking my other build thread lol but just wanted to share some progress today on new XJ.

New power steering pressure hose installed. All good now!

Replaced front clip with a used but new one. Photos show entire front torn down to replace parts.

Trailer has misc parts on it as I swapped things out. That blue hatch is going to go on to replace red one sometime this weekend I think.

Okay I lied but LoL....I have a question hoping you guys can assist. So green jeep does not start with key. PO showed me how to start from relay plug in engine compartment by jumping one connection to the other. Turning key of course in on position and then doing that.

I was told it was most likely my tumbler. Any thoughts? I could rig it to a switch inside cab I suppose for now but is this an easy job to fix? Assuming its just the tumbler.

Call off the dogs turns out I fixed ignition lol well not really but for some reason previous owner just never tried a new relay. What would you know when correct part installed things work lol.

On another note, problem #3 and more I'm sure ha ha. Turn signals in rear do not work. I get brakes, backup lights, tail lights. When I put on blinkers I only have blinkers in front.

I checked all bulbs, fuses, removed trailer wiring and even ran test light to harness inside driver side fender area just before it connects to lights and only light I get constant is tail lights. No blinkers. So I'm confused a chance maybe turn signal switch in dash or some short along the path through body from front of vehicle? Or am I missing something else here? Is there a separate flasher under dash just for rear flashers?
