Just bought my first jeep, a 1993 cherokee. Hold the applause. The first issues I need to address are a slightly high running temp in the engine and a hot floor (transmission housing?) around the transmission. There is no carpet and the floor and it gets really hot. I'm looking for recommendations on how to insulate it a bit without using carpet so it's easy to clean. I would like for my passengers to not cook their legs on longer rides. Thanks for any help.

Yea it gets hot.
For a while I had a foam rubber "fatigue mat" that I cut up and put on the floor. That also helped. I did that to act as a sound deadener but it helped with the heat.
Then I took that out and I laid down some Noico sound deadning mat and that seemed to help a bit, probably a similar amount as carpet. I also have those deep floor mats. I think mine are Quadratec. Those help a bit more. But with a hot engine, I still was uncomfortable. One trip caused my sneakers to shrink on my feet.. it was bad.
The thing that helped THE MOST was honestly when I got the engine to stop running hot. The exhaust, and transmission seem to really take the engine heat and throw it up at the floor especially on the passenger side.

Unfortunately no recommendations on fan or rad. My issue was actually a timing one, and a bad shop installing a distributor wrong.
Lots of people have cooling issues and there are a lot of ways people deal with it. Pretty popular topic on the forum but you will get a lot of different ideas. If you haven't searched the forum yet regarding cooling, I suggest you take a look.
