Default Cab getting heat soaked.

Yes I tried doing a search but I never found the right search words to find it. I love trail riding, but the cab of my Cherokee gets so hot b/c of the heat coming threw the floor from the drivetrain and exhaust. What do you guys do about it on the cheap? Like floor coating or something.

Everywhere. You can feel it radiating threw the floor

I would agree but this isn't warmer/worse along the exhaust routing. I am just looking for a cheap way to insulate the cab from the heat. I now there are coating for heat but they ain't cheap. I may just start some trial and error with different stuff.

I was planning to take the carpet out of mine until one day after a looonnggg day of slow trail riding, I reached down to get my cell phone that was in the console under the e-brake handle and it was almost to hot to touch... I'm almost scared to know how hot the floor would be if i didn't have carpet...

I'm thinking some hood vents (or maybe even a full blown cowl hood), some cooling system upgrades, tranny cooler upgrade, and a freer flowing exhaust(less time the heat is under there, less time it can heaksoak is my theory) will help a bit.

Is there a rubber "carpet" available for an XJ? I'm talking like what comes in a lot of base model stripped down work trucks.

I used this for the cab of my truck:

http://www.lowes.com/pd_154017-81326-PS625_0__

adhesive backed aluminum flashing. I have never worked with dynamat, but supposed this stuff is very similar and much cheaper. nice and easy to work with and supposedly does a good job with heat and noise. I do know my doors shut a lot more solid than they used to. I should have it back on the road in a couple weeks to find out how much of a difference this stuff really made

This stuff they used on the show muscle car. It is actually cheaper than I thought but still not cheap enough. Oh I just noticed you gotta spend another $80 for the gun and mixer to spray it.

my suggestion will only work if you run a carpet, otherwise you are looking at lizard skin or something to that effect, i run the SEM pro rock epoxy bedliner kit in the vw my driveline is much tighter to the tunnel than an xj and i don't seem to have major heat problems.. that kit is $100 ans comes with a throw away gun that makes install great.. far tougher than the roll in crap
