Default Dave's Project Blue2

What do ya know, back in an xj. Ill catch everyone up on my excessive trading with vehicles..and provide background info to how I am here, just like all my other build threads.

History of my Jeeping life:
Started with this 88 back in 2010 (first jeep ever):

Size: 98.0 KB

Ended up looking like this when I was done with it: (yes same jeep)

Name: ForumRunner_20120715_222729jpg_zpsa84c7539.png
Views: 71
Size: 308.8 KB

Sold it and bought this:

Size: 99.8 KB

After some money and time it looked like this:

Size: 169.5 KB

Sold it and bought a dumb *** toyota (flame away):

Size: 121.2 KB

Sold it and ended up with this thing:

After lots of work, and a good bit of $ it turned into this:

Size: 136.0 KB

Traded that XJ for this thing (thinking I wanted a barbie Jeep):

Sold it for a nice profit, and bought this (on the birthdate of Jeep, destiny? Probably not):

Specs,
98 2 Door
Pearl Gunmetal blue (or something along those lines)
4.0 180k
AW4 (was wanting an ax15, but oh well)
d30/8.25
Flowmaster 40
HERE IS WHERE IT GETS GOOD:

3" RC coils, aal
3 inch spacers (yes)
3 inch block (YES!)
STOCK CONTROL ARMS (HELL YES)
STOCK TB, Redrilled (ZOMG!)
16" TJ Moabs (cant wait to sell these for way too much)
285 Agressive all terrains
Clean as a new jeep.

Soon enough Im simply going to lose the spacers and blocks, and take it down to 3 inches, and wheel it till I can afford to build it the way I want.

More dumb pictures:

If I had it my way (which I just may come tax time)

Either waggy 44 front and rear, or a 44 front out of something, 9" Rear, 5.13s
37s (unless I cannot afford them, then 35s)
I may shoot for a bit more lift on this one, I really enjoyed the LCOG 2000 I had..but I needed a bit more uptravel. Maybe 5 inches of lift if I stay 35s, if I go 37s it will be 5.5 coils and probably 3 inch leafs, a drop shackle, and relocaters.

Gonna have some cross over steering made
If I can convince my buddy Brian to build me another 3 link then ill do that for sure again.
If he hates me from trading the last xj..then Im honestly considering the Rustys 4 Link..

People will bash it all they want..but ive seen it in person..its absolute damn beef. Only thing I would be concerned about with the rustys 4 link is the dumb joints they use. Also looking at the RK 3/4 Link

I need to plan on a locker, lunchbox or not.. Never owned a locked XJ.. I know it would help a TON.

Id like to make it worthy of long *** trips, and some hard wheeling..so looking at OBA, and some mods to carry gear, etc.

I want it to be able to handle everything the 00 could and more, but also be able to be taken on a long trip at a moments notice.

Armor of course...and may consider a roof rack for this build, not sure yet.

NICE! Don't see many gunmetal pearl 2-doors around! Love it. 231 or 242? (were 242s even an option on the 2dr models?)

231, no clue if 242s were an option.

After seeing how much further those 242s hang down, I dont want another.

I loathe my 242 more every day. I'm so tired of fighting with the shift linkage for it. I've begun searching for a 231 to swap. There's a junkyard in my area specifically for Jeeps, I'll have to hit them up! If I knew better when I was XJ shopping, I would've kept an eye out for one with a 231

242 is nice in areas with adverse weather.. but here its almost always sunny or cloudly. Little rain...almost no snow.

I never hung up on mine in my 00.. but id prefer not to have to worry about it.

nice jeep dave welcome back to an xj. i would not recommend lunch box locker if you plan to drive long trips they make hella noise, would only get one if i had manuel lock outs.

A front lunch box is unnoticeable in 2wd

Its pretty cool.
Unpractical for what I wanted it for.

An Xj can't be beat for price and ease of building something that can go basically anywhere

Welcome back. I may sell mine and try to find a better one. Mine needs some things I'd rather not have to tackle
