So in my hurry to dump all my lift pictures onto my computer before I left for Yosemite I lost them all.

The ride is great but without front disconnects the flex is marginal. I did get sway bar disconnects from RC but they don't fit a three inch lift.

So the lift went in with much difficulty as I was too tentative about compressing the springs. I was told that they could get away from you and cause major injuries. After compressing my spring many times to get them out then in I gained confidence and just went for it. Then it got easy.

I love the extra three inches so much that I am thinking of putting in some spacers in front and adjustable rear shackles. This will get me one more inch of lift and I could run 32's and I can use my disconnect too.

Now to find time to get out on the trails. Snow is still melting on the higher runs so first of July will be just right.

Glad you're happy with the lift. I actually removed my old springs and installed the new ones without any compressors. I just disconnected everything from the axle and lowered it to the ground, no compressing needed. To install the new ones I just slipped em in, hooked up the lower control arms and jacked the axle up until everything else lined up.

Rough Country disconnects are great, you just have to make sure they stay tight (as with any disconnect).

OK I found the pictures from the lift. Now I see why I lost them.

OK this took too long I think we have established that but I love the way it turned out. It really works well off road and I love the way it rides and it handles better than it did stock.

Well after the lift Babajeep's rear break line was stretched to the max when at full flex.

Here you can see that it looks like a guitar string. Twang!

OK now that is better but maybe too much better. Don't really like the extra hanging around where it might get into trouble but there it is.

Well I got both the front and the back ones so I put the fronts on too. I will not run out of room here as there is plenty to go around.

Well there you go. Trail ready.

Of course I needed a winch and winch plate so I went with Detours Backbone system and a 9.0 Super Winch to put on it.

While I had the front bumper off I decided to take both off and all the flares too and give them a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint.

Don't you like the clean look? It is almost stock in appearance and I found out this weekend that the plastic end caps can take a hit with out any denting or even scrapping so it keeps its great look.

I love the weight savings, money saving and the stock look too.

You've been busy, I wish my bumper would get here, I guess my guys cutter went down so that pushed back all bumpers by 3 weeks.

Warning: this http://detoursusa.com/xjbackbone_install.php does not work anymore for the installation. look at my bumper and you will see that they raised the tow point up and different years have different bumper bends. So this gives you a rough idea of what to do but I screwed up my bumper my depending on these instruction too much.

That said I would get one again. 12 places where it attachés to the uni-body. The thing is bullet proof.

Default Detroit Truetrac

Well this is a build page but the only thing to see with this upgrade is me handing over my plastic and being debited over a grand.

Thank you for listening

Babajeep was making a whining noise coming from the rear differential from about 50 mph to 70 MPH when the skinny petal was deployed. Let off the accelerator and the noise would stop. Press down and it would start again.

Ended up being the PO pulled a 24' boat and over loaded the gears. when Tyler my differential guy, looked at it he said the gears will last for years but the LS clutches were gone.

What to do now? A Detroit Truetrac installed in my Chrysler 8.25.

Do it myself? Who are we kidding? It took 18 hours to install a simple 3" lift. Lets face it I am willing but I am no mechanic.

That said I hear Julie Andrews singing in the back ground " Climb any mountain....." or was it one of the nuns?

Babajeep is on its way to becoming a real mountain goat.

Nice, you need some big tires now that mechanical grip is taken care of.

I'm still waiting for my bumper. Going on the 3rd month. Atleast I have a rear recovery point now.

Default Low on Dough

@SKidder, I don't see new tires in my future until next year. When I do get them I need a rear spare tire carrier, five new wheels and re-gearing along with five tires making the price tag big.

There are some little things I can do until then that will help with performance. Cowl CAI, Flowmaster 40, high flow thermostat housing with a Superstat Thermostat by Stant, and a JCR transfer case skid for a little more protection.

What are you using for a rear recovery point now?

I just slaped on a tow hitch and called it good. Probably the best money I've spent.
