Let me know when you might be needing help... I can tell you it would have been twice as hard to get my lift on if I were solo (still took 8-9 hours with 2 people). I'm going camping and wheeling this weekend and might be camping and wheeling next so I can't guarentee our schelules will allign. I'm friends with another Cherokee owner down that way he might be willing to help too.

Thanks SKidder I will take you up on the help. I would love to have an extra hand. I might have the use of a friends garage with lift and air tools so I hope I can beat your 8 - 9 hour time. Here is a video where it only takes 6:30 min to do.

I'll let you know when I am going do it, may be we can get together.

'a putting my lift in tomorrow. I cant wait so I am paying my mechanic to help me put it on. He is a great guy and if I can get some help with the front and use his lift I think it will be worth it. Any way I can not wait any longer.

So what do you think of doing the 3" lift now then next year taking her up to 4.5" by adding in the rear, a shackle relocation bracket, rear shock relocaters, extent the break lines.

And in front coil spacers, adjustable uca and lca with control arm drop kit, adjustable track bar, extend the break lines and Detours front shock cheaters.

Transfer care drop or SYE and drive shaft.

I think I can keep all my 3" lift parts and just add to it and get a great 4.5" lift. What do you guys think?

That would work for you. You shouldn't need adjustable upper or lower control arms for 4.5" lift. Just get a set of lca's that are sized to fit 4.5" of lift. Most 4.5" kits only come with lca's anyway.... It's all you need to make it work. Adjustables won't hurt anything but you don't need them.

Thanks Kopecki I always like to build with one eye on the future because I know when you lift it one inch the next thing you want to do is lift it 'just one more.'

Haha... When I lifted my rig I was like "Wow... this things a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be!"..... now I'm thinking "Hmm.... it'd be really easy to add a few more inches to my lift...."

OK I feel a little defeated today.

I spent 4.5 hours installing the lift and only got the drivers side front done.

Told some friends I would help them clean up the land from the storm damage from last winter today but I will get a few hours in the afternoon.

Sunday I will get back on it in the afternoon and hopefully finish it up Monday with the help of my mechanic.

Anyone else take longer than the "Install Time: 3 - 4 hours" Rough Country says it takes?

Still struggling with the lift, just my wife helping, but it will be done today. This is my question: there is a hole in the top of the D30, I guess it is a breather hole. Is there a fitting that goes in that hole that I can attach a tube to? OR do I just put a tube into the hole and run it some where?

If it wasn't for broken/rusted bolts I could have had my lift installed in around five hours...... But A LOT of bolts broke. What's taking so much time on your install?

There is a little white plastic fitting that goes in the top of your D30 for the breather hose. I recommend you get that fitting and a hose asap. You want that hose up as far as possible.... Otherwise you've got an open hole in your diff for water to get into. I believe Team Cherokee sells the fittings if you want to buy new. I'm on my phone.... Otherwise I'd look it up for you.

Good luck bud, keep us updated!

My lift took so long cause I'm a perfectionist, I bet if I had to do it again I could get it done a few hours sooner. But all in all there's a lot of work to get done when lifting any vehicle.

This weekend I finally put my XJ through some more interesting trails, after seeing how effortlessly I made it through everything my friend is building his 80's 4-runner to keep up.

Sounds pretty awesome. It's amazing what these vehicles can do stock.... Absolutely outrageous what they can do modified.

Thanks man.

I just could not figure out how to get the coil out and the new ones back in. I would try something and it would not work so I would put it back and try something else. The shop I was using, I am not complaining as it did have a lift and air, was so disorganized to me that it would take 5 minutes to find the right socket. Also I was tentative about compressing the springs until I did it a few times..

I will take a look at Team Cherokee and get a new one then run that tube as high as I can.

I wish I had a good reason for it taking so long. I guess I could say because my wife helped me but she was more help than not

Where did you fine a trail that is not under snow?

Took the Jeep to Yosemite area with some friends for the long weekend, while I was gone Donner Summit got more snow... this winter just wont quit! A few OHV areas in Truckee are melted off, it's just the summit area that still completely mired with the white stuff.

So is the babajeep up and rolling now?

Babajeep is up and running as of 8pm last night

I will have pictures up this evening of the install marathon.

This is my second lift install. The first was with a friend, on the floor of his garage, with no air tools, took two day or 12 to 14 hours. He worked for a body shop and knew his way around a car.

This time I had a lift, air tools, my wife for help and it took 16 hours

Anyway, it is done and I am happy with the lift. It rides better and it is not too high that shorter people, read wife, can't get in and out easily.

The next part will be to add a few thing to get one more inch of lift and add 32's and change the gears to 4.10.

But right now I have a CB, winch bumper, and winch sitting here waiting to be installed so I have plenty to keep me busy for a while.

Next week, if the weather holds, we have reservations for 5 nights of camping at Yosemite. Let the sun shine.
