I know right, not sure why it took so long to get them added to the collection.
No races just working on getting my riding skills back. Right now she really has her way with me on the trail. Feels like puberty all over again....

Not much to update. Waiting on parts to come in but I have found everything I need for the new sound system and CB Rig. Hope to get my gear installed this weekend. If my speakers show up...

Snapped a pic of the tape collection. Yes there are some satirical selections in there...

This is by far one of the best build threads on here!
I love your rig man!
But I have a few questions.
Why did you change to the new steering box and pump?
When are you going to cut and roll the fenders and get some new flares on it?
Did you finally get the steering working right?
And was it mostly a caster problem?
Where are the pics of the fan set up?
How do you like it?
And was it worth the money?
Lastly there is one part of you build I don't like. The exhaust. Not that you got bad parts or any thing but you did not do a header yet, and who ever welded it up is blind, and or has never welded before. EVER! LOL Sorry but as a welder thous welds bug the crap out of me!
I hope to have an XJ as nice as yours one day. Keep it up man!

Let's take a look at these questions.
I changed to the new pump and box because after all the work we did to the front end in December there was still play in the steering. Also I lost a good chunk of turning radius with the durango box that I wanted back.
Everyone cuts and rolls their fenders and I was looking at doing this as well but after lots of thinking and back and forth we decided to keep the stock flares. They been trimmed and moved up a bit but overall they keep the look nice a clean. I've just noticed I haven't posted pictures since we did this. I'll try to get some up this week.
Yes the steering is way better now. I still need to get a final alignment done but am waiting till I fully break in the steering gear box.
Caster was a big part of the problem and compounded by running a inverted T steering setup and a junkyard steering gear box with too much play.
I'll post some pics of the Fan setup this week as well. I like it but truly don't notice it is there, which is a good thing. It does keep the engine cooler when driving around town. My mechanical fan created a huge racket when it kicked on and was one of the main reasons I did the swap.
Dirtbound Trifan is a great kit but for many its going to be a nice to have, not a need to have.
I hear you about the welds. That's meineke's finest right there. I have them on the list to be addressed later this summer along with replacing the o2's, headers and downpipe. I was holding off till I got the coin for a 4.7L stroker build but my mpg needs to be addressed.

Spent the last couple days running wires and finding problems.
First problem encountered. Pulled the cubby panel to install the subthump box. Found that I still have a nice size hole at the bottom of the QP from when we did the rust clean up. Bought some Nortons speed grip epoxy to fill the gap. Hopefully it does the trick.
Went to take the front seats out and the rear bolts for both are seized. I was able to work around pulling the seats but will have to address this sooner than later.
As with most jeeps I found some lite surface rust in a couple areas underneath the carpet. Debating whether to raptor line or Line X. I'll probably go raptor since I'll be putting the carpet back in but might as well see what LineX would run.
Other than those issues the install in going slow but well. Rear speakers are in and wired. Sub wiring is in place. CB wiring is almost done, just need to tap power and ground.
Front speakers were giving me some problems. There is a ridge at the bottom of the speaker hole in the door that point the speaker slightly up. When trying to drill new holes it proved to be a pain trying to get the new hole to line up right so I had to resort to using a bracket that placed the holes further out. Unfortunately this bumps the speaker out about a quarter inch and presses the cone/surround right up on the stock door grill. I don't like using aftermarket grills but there is no way around it here. My only hope is I can paint them to blend in with the interior.
Some pics of the progress.

Also here is the Dirtbound trifan setup and the trimmed OE flares.

Ha, What I didn't include in the picture was the cooler full of Buds I'd been using to chill me out. I didn't have the hammer thought until I had already cut the speaker grill out of the door card.
