Do you have any details as to how to pick up one of those renix scanners?
Although with a renix all you need is a multimeter and cruisers tips but I'd like to see how things are functioning...

Sorry to hear you're sick. Hope you're doing better soon! MAP=Manifold Absolute Pressure should be a measure of vacuum. MAF=Mass Air Flow.
I would assume the reader is telling you the fuel trim. When I had a leaky injector the fuel trim went way lean to try and compensate, I don't remember seeing black smoke out of mine but it's very possible. Yours has that weird fuel pressure regulator but if you have a stuck/leaky injector you can measure the fuel pressure and if it drops when you turn the key off it could show up. That could also indicate a bad check valve in the fuel pump too though.

Nick is making alpha units, only good for automatics right now (having problems with manual transmissions communicating differently.) I contacted him through his youtube channel, but he also has a facebook page, NickInTimeFilms. Look him up. I don't know how many units he is planning on placing for his alpha project, but I know he wants to move to a beta project pretty quickly.

There's a bung and screw in air temp unit on the intake manifold on my '99 near the throttle body. I'd imagine it'd be similar on yours. Hopefully the plug came loose on the O2 sensor or something easy!

I checked the plug and its still good, but I didn't get any further. I am going camping this weekend with it. First really long drive, hopefully it doesn't blow up on me!
