Default Advice on my 99 Cherokee build

I have a 1999 Cherokee with roughly 256000km on it. It has a 2in puck lift and aftermarket front bumper with winch from the previous owner. I've had it for a little over 6 months with no problems. I'm wanting to turn it into a offroad capable daily. I want to do a 6in long arm lift on 35s with some fender trimming so I can flex a fair bit.

I'm wondering what lift kits you guys would recommend. I've researched a few such as the rough country one or the Iro rock link one. I'm also wondering what else I'll have to do to the Cherokee since I'm gunna lift it 6in? Such as steering upgrades, regearing the diffs, rear brake conversions, slip yoke eliminators that type of thing. Basically just looking for advice and pointers from you guys.

Thanks for the help.

For 35s you'll have to regear to 4.56 gears at least, and if you have the Dana 35 rear it won't hold up to 35s but you can find a Chrysler 8.25 out of a 97-01 Cherokee and bolt it in. For suspension you will need either long arms or control arm drop, an adjustable track bar, and either longer sway bar links or relocation brackets. Rubicon Express makes good products for a reasonable price.

there is no "KIT" that will have everything you need to start running 35"s on a xj ..... sye is a must, drive shaft for rear , long arm kit would make it ride best and flex best your gonna need brake lines , uniframe reinforcement axle upgrades maybe trusses, sleeves,c gussets, if your gonna keep the dana 30 also everything 00t444e said

can I ask why you want to lift so much and run 35" tires?

I have the 8.25 wth the 29 spline in the rear, would I still want to regear that to 4.56. I definitely want to do long arm compared to control arm drop. And yeah that's what I was wondering, cause I heard the sway bars like to snap wth 6in of lift so I'll definitely be upgrading the stearing. I also like their lift kits, theres so many to choose from.

Yeah I know there's not one kit that does everything thing I need, I'll be buying lot of other stuff besides the lift. I know sye is a must but is there any alternatives to doing a sye that get the same result? I want to keep stock axles for now eventually I'll probably upgrade to something bigger. I've heard you can't run much more then 35s in the stock axles without replacing a lot of it and at that point might as well swap a bigger axle in. Also wouldnt 35s wth a 6in lift give me a lot of flex compared to if I ran 37s or bigger. I'll go bigger eventually. I just want to keep it a good mix of offroad capable and also being able to drive it as a daily and not be fueling up everyday.

Yes that's a good axle, for the front you should at least do the full circle clip upgrade on the u-joints or if you have the money get chromoly shafts, and of course you will have to put 4.56 gears in it as well.

a big lift lift does not guarantee flex its all how you set it up and you can flex a lot better with smaller tires due to the wheel well size... currently my xj is at 5.5" of lift on 34x10,50 swampers with beadlocks it is long armed and flat belly and flat springs in rear . I do not run swaybars at all. it flexes very well. as for axles im running a ford 8.8 in rear with disk brakes 4.11gears , iro truss and swap kit, and a Yukon grizzly locker . it runs a adams drivehaft and hooks to my transfer case that has a sye and teraflex 2wd low kit . up front I run a dana 30 with 4.10 gears ,Spartan lunch box locker , its sleeved ,has the teraflex high steer knuckle , ruff stuff specialties 1 ton steering , hydro assist ram for steering ,my steering box is drilled and tapped and the power steering is being over driven with a psc smaller pulley I have been building it sinc 2010 and have tons of hours and money in this set up but has been great fun you can my rig is over built but I drive 2 hours away to wheel and have to drive it home
