Default Xj problem

I have a 2000 xj, I'm putting a motor out of a 96 xj in it. I know the 2000 had coil packs and the 96 had distributor, what do I need to do in this situation??

Or swap the head from the 2000 on to the 96.

You use all of the wiring and sensors from your 2000 model.

It's going to take a bit more wiring and swap out than you might think.

It might be easier to try to convert the 96 to coil pack completely.

Yes use all the wiring and computer from the 2000, don't try to mix and match the harnesses or you'll end up with a nightmare. The biggest problem would be finding a way to mount the coil rail on the 96 head.

I'm sure someone could maybe possibly do it, but there is no way to plug and play the distributor. The best way is to use all the stuff off of the 2000 motor.

The 2000 model didn't have a motor when I got it so I got the 96 just for a donor vehicle. I don't have any engine parts for the 2000.

I'm thinking I'm just gonna remove the engine harness and computer from the 2000 and put the engine harness and computer out of the 96 in it

I'm not sure that will work since they changed so many things between 1996 and 2000. Many of the sensors are different, the gauge cluster is different, and plugs are different.
