I don't think it's realistically possible to have things work. It would be much easier to get a coil pack off a Jeep in the junkyard and a couple sensors than rewire the jeep and swap stuff around. I know for a fact that the MAP, fan plug, and entire gauge cluster (which won't fit in the 2000 from the 96 so you either won't have working gauges or will have to swap dashes. If you do swap dashes you will need to swap fuel tanks for the gauge to read right since they inverted the signal in earlier years). There's probably a lot more that is involved as well. They changed almost all electronics between 1996 and 2000. Between the interior/exterior changes and advancing the obd2 they changed ALOT.

When I swap it to coil pack what do I do as far as the distributor?? And where would I get the adapter clips for the coil pack to be mounted or do I have to make them?

Google the coil mount. Many people have done head swaps so I'm sure there's info on it. There is a sensor that goes in the distributor hole on the block to give the info for the timing.
