Steering box brace.
I have flipped up sticks, logs, and rocks traveling down the trail that whack the bottom of my rig. If your hunting trails have anything similar, you could too. I see your hard work getting damaged. Much like spending copious amounts of time to create a paper shield.
The aluminum could be used for interior panels, air dam on a roof rack, water/mud shield under the radiator, or.....
Requesting any sort of protection from it is asking a lot.
Your fab work looks just fine to me. Don't let me slow you down!

so i'm a little sketchy as to what to do next. thoughts on a steering box bracket. a front skid plate.... and as of this morning i want to convert the front suspension to leaf springs.
i've been researching what is involved and looks rather straight forward. D30 cleared of all bracketry, add on perch mounts. reinforce the front. add shackle mounts on the front. use TJ springs. re use the rear control arm mounts. re connect all linkages and take to shop fro re alignment. issue is this has to be done over a weekend as this is my DD. i'm not scared to do it, but could use a little help. sooo...
anyone in central NY want free food n beer in exchange for a hand. if you have some basic fab skills i have the tools. i will do most of the work but need extra person to bounce ideas off of and we all know fab stuff requires a little forethought and ajustment. friday afternoon, all day saturday and possible part of Sunday. again i'll put yyou up for the night. we'll be eating steaks at every meal, and beer is a staple when fabbing up and major mod in my book. any takers? PM me. i'm in Waterloo.

by by rear sway bar. still drives exactly the same (as expected) had a mother of a time getting it off, ended up chopping it with the grinder and acut off wheel right at the mounts on the leaf pack. disconnected the front just for $hits and giggles. not really a big fan. feels way too slop (i guess thats what i have to learn. so i just reconnected it and the investment of QD sounds like a good one when i do need that front articulation.

I've taken a few days off from tinkering with the XJ. I've got me a vintage snowmobile and i'm restoring it and prepping it to OEM stock so i can enter it in vintage races. If the G/Mods will allow it i'll put up build pics. in the appropriate thread.
