Well, if you have shot rear leafs like me, then yeah, expect some rubbing. But where it's rubbing is on the lower edge instead of the high center of the wheel well, and it only happens at highspeed dips in the road. Front end hasn't rubbed yet, and does't at full lock either. Still, I don't plan on running it like this much longer.

Very nice & clean DD & off-roader. Nice to see a clean build and not an over-the-top job. I tried to buy my dad's '97 in the same color but he wouldn't budge so I opted for a white one.

How do you like the Yakima Megawarrior? I already have the Yakima rack system so I'm looking at that basket as opposed to the Wilderness rack.

Thanks, that's what I'm going for, clean and capable. I love this 95, couldn't have lucked out better.

It's actually a Rola rack. A guy who does his own custom bumpers sold it to me new out of the box. They're an Australian company and it's a legit rack. Hardware is solid, no cheap plastic to be found.

I can't wait to do the budget boost next. I don't just want to shackle up the same shot leafs I have now, so I'm going to try some OME mediums and coil spacers first. Then if I have too, shackle the rear to adjust level. I like RE's kit, but don't want to keep the current leafs, so one thing at a time. 1"-1 1/2" is all I'm looking for.

Quote: Wow, if this is where you live then I'm really jelaous! Your Jeep looks right at home in those mountains!

The Rusty's is OK. I wasn't a fan of the shackles, they seemed to bind up the rear axle, made it ride rough, and handled horribly while turning. I opted for Old Man Emu 2" Heavy Duty Springs, and switched back to stock shackles. I was blown away by the improvement in ride quality, far superior to the stock ride.

The springs also raised the vehicle height slightly more than the Rusty's shackles had. This caused some driveline vibes, so I fabbed up a t-case drop out of 1" steal cube tubing. This fixed the problem. You may not have this issue in a 98 though.

The front spacers are OK, I have no complaints up there. However, I will probably switch over to a set of Old Man Emu front lift springs in the future, and will swap out the factory shocks for longer aftermarket ones.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Can you tell me the specs of your T-Case drop you made? I work in a factory that produces metal products and cam easly fabricate one up...im putting a 3in lift on my cherokee. Also, how well did you like the Rampage H4 conversion headlights?

What color is this XJ? It definitely doesn't look like Steel Metallic or Steel Pearcoat. Is that a Wrangler Color? Gunmetal Pearlcoat?

Quote: Thanks! These are the correct shocks, the front are 550016, and the rear should be 550017. Love them, I'm told there are the same shock as the Old Man Emu. Apparently, monroe builds them for OME and they are the same shock as the Magnum, but just have an OME stick on them. Good luck with your rig!
Forgive the comment resurrection on such an old post.

But I've been thinking about buying the Monroe 550017's for awhile, to go with the new UpCountry leaf packs I'm installing next week (that were just delivered yesterday).

How do you like these? The spec's for 'em indicate the rear travel is only 2-3/8's inches (which: that don't seem right to me ...most XJ shocks are in the 7-8 inch range). Can you confirm that? Has that limited travel ever been a - or caused any - problem for you? How about any off-road issues? On-road comfort issues?

Thanks!

Quote: I've installed several upgrades over the past few months so here are some pics.

I've added a Yakima Mega Warrior cargo basket to the roof, as well as the Yakima spare tire mount, as the 245/75/16 tire will not fit in the stock location. The basket is great for all my summertime expiditions and backpacking trips.
I have been looking At the same basket. Do you have the basket extender added to it as well?

I just sent Burgy a PM, but figured I would post here also:

I've been reading the thread and can't seem to match every item up to what I find at various sites.

I found the Monroe Magnum shocks (550016 - front and 550017 - rears).

From there, I'm having trouble finding the exact front and rear springs. For the fronts, I found these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ARB-2930-Old...okee-XJ-Wagon-), but not sure if they are correct.

For the rear leafs, I can't find any OME that are listed for the XJ. I'm also planning to purchase a transfer case drop kit to get rid of the vibration I'm expecting. I was going to go with this (http://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-...kit-xj-mj.html). I don't need the 2" coil spacers with this set up right?

Any help finding the exact front and rear springs would be very helpful.

Also, is there anything else that I'm missing or should consider purchasing (outside of the moab wheels and duratrac tires)?

Big thanks in advance - I'm really looking forward to this set up on my 2000 Cherokee.

Go to my build, I have part numbers. At least for rear springs.

Agreed. This is the jeep mine wants to be when it grows up. Just awesome.

To bad the OP got highjacked......I wanted to see/hear about his OME front coil install.
