So I think I've got a pretty good idea for my cb mount. I found a piece of aluminum that would work great to just bolt right into where the taillight bolts and run the mount right outside of the tailgate.

Really? Nice I had no idea. I didn't think that the antenna was going to come with a mount or the coax but it came with all of it. So I'm going to see if I can make use out of what I have but I'm definitely going to check that out and maybe what I set up now won't be permanent. Thank you

be careful where you decide to put that mount, I have had friends rip the 'tail-light' style mounts and antennas right off and mess thier light and fender up when off-camber in rocks or up against trees.. off the side of the rig is NOT a good idea with all the trees you probably will be wheeling around. just a thought man.

Where would you suggest mounting it?

depends on if you use a disconnect antenna or if it is full time, I have seen sweet set-ups on the front bumper/grill guard with the whip connect at the top to the roof rack, is a two purpose also then it sends branches/limbs up and over on what ever side of the Jeep you put it on, or if it is a disconnect style on the rear hatch about 6-8" from the license plate. it is hard to say, depends on your final build, but remember it is only the portion ABOVE the Jeep that really receives a great signal.. I know looking at your build thread you will have great set-up once you decide though. good job so far, looking forward to seeing it with the lift!

sounds ghetto, but on my last XJ build I used a magnet style and ran it on the roof when I wheeled and didn't run it when I was not wheeling. the magnet style was cheap and easy and actually worked really well.. put it in the middle of my roof rack and it never came off when wheeling

I like those hood mounts though I might just get one of them. Whatever I do I'm not tuning my antenna until I know the place where I'm mounting it is going to be permanent.
Thank you very much for your compliments btw

So here is what I have for a temporary setup. I'm leaning towards getting the hood channel mount but for now this is how I'll run it. I don't plan on doing much wheeling until I'm lifted and everything. This thing is so clean underneath right now never seen any mud and while I'll be wrenching under there I'd like to keep it that way. Lol
So what I did was I ground down a little 10mm bolt so that it was flush with the mounting place of the taillight and the other bolt runs directly into where the taillight mounts. I was originally just going to go with the one bolt but at least it will have a little better stability now. The only way I'll know of it will work is to bolt it up. But this will be temporary. I just ordered a spring to go in between the antenna and the mount and after I do some research tonight I'll order the actual mount itself. I'm just too excited to finally have my cb back! It's been to long.

It's pouring rain here but I went across the street to a car wash and put my antenna up. I think It looks pretty sweet in that spot. The antenna is really stiff it doesn't have much give in it at all. So I'm definitely going to need that spring.
Is that person who sells the mounts in the vendor section? I'm trying to hunt him down

So now the question is where to mount my radio... Decisions, decisions.
And also. Should I A- use a cig outlet or B- wire into the fuse box.
This will be a permanent setup. I won't be taking it out anytime soon. I'm kind of leaning towards wiring it into the fuse panel because I want to have access to the outlets at all times.
Side note: for some reason since I've had the jeep the outlet for the actual cigarette lighter doesn't work. And the fuse is good. Bad socket maybe?? The outlet on the right works just fine.

Found the fellow selling tail Light mounts btw. Idk even for a quick setup I'm kind of liking mine better. It's much beefier with the 2 mounting points. His only ties into the taillight with one bolt

Which Rage rack is that? And how is the floor of it setup (crossbars or mesh)? Looks good up there. If the dimensions are decent I might pick one up.
