Default 1998 Daily Driver Build

Well, I started out with a white 1999 XJ which I was going to use as a trail rig and then use my 98 as a daily driver.

here's the '99

it had some issues like surging, and was just running like crap. so anyway, I decided to save some money and give the white XJ back to my dad so I don't have to pay insurance on it anymore. I decided I was just going to use the '98 as my daily driver and trail rig.

anyway. My old build thread for the '99 was crap. I plan on treating this completely different, not even going to post something til I either have the part, or it's done.

here's the '98 as it sits now

.

anyway, so my uncle's shop was selling this blue 1998 cherokee. the PO hit black ice and went off the road into a ditch. me and my dad were thinking of buying it and parting it out.

so we got it for $700 and it ran beautiful. when we looked to see what was wrong with it, we decided might as well fix it, and keep it.

here's the day we got it

also, found out the PO put in an aftermarket LSD. I am not sure what kind yet though, we're working on getting the paperwork for it. It works very well though!

we needed a serpentine belt, fix the exhaust, new front bumper, and we had to get offset ball joints in order for it to align right.

thanks to a forum member I got a front bumper and we got that put on.

transferred the stereo and speakers over to the blue jeep, also got a set of subs from a friend. at some point later I want to get rid of these big ones and just get a small 10" sub in a small enclosure.

anyway, after tired of having my jeep be called a Volvo....I got some new rims and tires from another forum member. now it's starting to look like a jeep.

it's been like that ever since.

had a lot of fun in the snow. that LSD in the rear is awesome!

right now I have a new heater core that I need to put it in to fix my heat. luckily my friend offered me the use of their heated garage since it's the middle of winter now.

I also have a set of front Tow hooks to put on as well. hopefully I will be putting those on on the 16th. or sometime soon anyway. will also be trimming that bottom lip off of the front bumper as well.

Good luck man, I hate doing heater cores. Especially in the cold, at least you have access to a heated shop!

well today, I got a 13" antenna for the jeep, and put that on.

here's the antenna

and was bored so I went and did some urban flexing. not too bad for stock with swaybars still. can't really see how much the rear left was drooping.

well, I got my dash removed, and the AC lines off in the front. Just need to get one last bolt to free the HVAC box from the firewall. and I need to get the heater hoses off as well (the ones that run into the firewall and are alongside the valve cover)

here's what the inside looks like. I did not remove the seats which I'm glad I didn't. I also didn't remove the steering wheel either.

Next on the list: (before next wheeling trip)
Install front tow hooks
Trim front lip off
Remove rear sway bar
Put on the goodyear wrangler radials that are on my other jeep (swap rims/tires)

Sometime:
Bedline the front bumper and rear bumper

if it's not leaking. trying flushing it and reverse flushing it. it was a PITA to do. I think I messed up my HVAC box. so at some point I'm going to have to tear it apart again. but at least I'm not leaking antifreeze now. so I can deal with it for awhile.

And I am putting my subs up for sale on craigslist tonight. I want/need that money to put into the lift kit. I want it ready by the end of May.
