I recently picked up this XJ and I'm getting ready for a build.
What it has now:
-33" Goodyear duratrecs
-3" BDS lift
-AX15 trans
-stock geering
Things i want to do:
-Bastard Pack lift w/ s-10 leaf packs, 1" shackles and a shackle relocation kit, new coil springs, and have all the angles and alignment right
-Minor repair
-AW4 swap
-S-10 steering box swap
-Ford 8.8 swap
-removable doors
Parts I plan to buy:
-4.56 gears
-35" Procomp Xtreme M/T2 (5)
-Iron Rock Offroad 8.8 swap kit
-Iron Rock Offroad shackle relocation kit
-Rubicon Express front coils
-6 point rollcage
-OTK 1-ton steering
And of course I want to stiffen the unibody and armor everything up, but that'll be later.
I am looking for input on my ideas. If you have good/bad reviews on the parts or if you have advice on what to do let's hear it

Questioning that as well... Are you going taller with it? Why not just look at higher shackles so you can save the nice leaf pack? Or sell it and find a good used 4.5" leaf pack.
Also questioning the switch to an automatic.
Two door, 4x4, sticks are pretty hard to come by... At least in my neck of the woods.
I wouldn't do the swap.

Well I see that, crawling is way easier when you have a dedicated foot for gas and brake, when you need that clutch always tends to be in the most F'd up place. I have a buddy that did the swap and loves it

You have a lot of the same thing on your bucket list as I do. The thing is I am just going to keep the 5 spd. Even though I agree with you on wheeling with and automatic is much better (at least for me). I just don't feel I will be doing those crazy hard trails. One thing I don't see on your list which I would like some-day is a Serious Long Arm Kit.

I do want to go higher with my lift. I didn't really think of finding a 4.5" leaf pack, this is a prime example ofwhy iI asked for advice. And I plan on slowly building my rig into something that I would have to trailer to and from trail systems and parks. The automatic trans will make hard wheeling a little bit easier
