01 XJ "1 step forward 2 steps back"
Well, this is officially my first post, first build. I have loved checking out all the other XJ builds and I thought it is about time I through my build or builds into. I started out buying my first XJ back in 2006. It was the fully loaded sport, such a great rig.
I started out with the typical stuff. Got my cold air intake from K&N and a 3.5" RE lift with 31x10.5x15 Goodyear Duratrac. I got the Bushwacker flat style flares and that's how she sat for about two years.
Then I got a Logan's Metal Works swing out tire carrier rear bumper. Great investment.

Then This happened. I will say this, that rear bumper is ROCK SOLID. It flipped end over end. I do believe having that big tire on the back saved it from being worse.

After searching high and low for another XJ, I finally found another 01 Sport.
I salvaged as much off the old one as I could and started the build all over again.
I will post pics of the new one soon.

I was on deployment and my wife had taken the jeep to work and the road had a little snow and ice on them. She went to pass a car that was going really slow and she hit a patch of ice and lost control of it. It flipped end over end. She was not hurt and pretty much walked away from it. She felt awful about the jeep, but I was more worried about her than it.

I went ahead and put a RC 4.5 on with adjustable upper and lower control arms. I put the rear bumper that was on the other jeep on the new one. I also got the Smitty front winch bumper. I will post pics of it soon.

So here is the new XJ. As soon as I got it home I started putting up on blocks to get it ready for the lift kit. So as it stands right now I went from 3.5" to almost 5" lift. Here is a rundown of the parts.
Front:
4.5" Rough Country springs
RC Adjustable upper and lower CA
JCR 1 ton steering upgrade
RE Adj Track arm
Skyjacker shocks all four corners.
Rear:
RE 1.5" Shackles
RE 3.5" leaf springs
Goodyear Duratrac 331x12.5x15
Pro comp Rock krawler steel wheels
Logan's Swing out tire carrier
Smitty Built front winch bumper
JCR rear quarter panel armor.
I would list the things I want to do, but it would take to long. I will keep adding as things go on.

So finally started putting the last of the parts from the wrecked jeep onto the new one. I had factory tinted windows, so it was time to swap them out. It was fun smashing the old glass out. Post pictures soon.
