I'm glad I didn't have to mask mine like that. Looks like a lot of work. Also I was thinking about going the other way and my roommate convinced me otherwise. I was going to have the outside the grey color I chose and the inside black, but he convinced me to do both grey. It's coming together well though

You should be able to see in the below photos that it is angled away from my head for this reason.
Friday I went to a friends shop to cover the headliner. It ended up taking most of the day, but over the weekend I was able to get the entire interior back together. I drove it to work today! WOOT!
A few of pics that I took yesterday as I was putting it all in.

The Overhead console turned out very good. I've got to get the visors covered, then I'll be able to put them in.
The compass is REALLY screwy though. It'll say SW one minute and NW the next.
Guess I will need to look into getting that fixed.

So about the compass.
The FSM has these procedures for Demagnetizing, Calibration, and Variation Adjustment.
The first looks like it involves a special tool. Other 2 thinking not.
In my hard copy of my '01 FSM it starts at Page 8M-1.
Was easy enough to find in the Index.
Will this help?
As usual I don't have a clue. LOL.

I don't have an FSM, but I did find this. http://there4.io/2019/03/08/Jeep-XJ-...s-Calibration/
And why don't you have an FSM? LOL.
You can get an '00 one here:
https://xjjeeps.com/
Go to Page 607 in that one.
I was fortunate enough to get a hard copy of a '01 FSM for free off Craigslist.
Guy was just giving it away. In good shape. Was an hour round trip to get it but well worth it.
They go for at least $50 when they show up on Ebay.
IMO the '00's and the '01's are identical.
The only difference I am aware of is that some '00 are CA Emissions and some are Federal Emissions.
All '01's are CA Emissions.
So since my '00 is a CA Emissions one I feel confident that whatever my '01 hard copy says applies to my '00.
And even then I have a digital copy of an '00 FSM from that link above.
When I first got it I sat in front of the TV and skimmed the whole book.
Was amazed at the amount of info in there.
Betting if everyone owned one it would be dead around here.
Just kidding. LOL.

That looks like the second two procedures in the FSM.

I'll most likely be browsing through the FSM and parts catalog too.
This was my attempt to help people out.

Also there is here:

Thing about these copies are that they are Zip Files that have to be downloaded and then extracted.
And it appears the book is broken up into sections, for some of them anyway, and it makes it tough to find things.
At the first link I posted you get a continuous book at least. 1 PDF document.
But nothing beats having a hard copy IMO.
Maybe just cause I am old. LOL.
