Remember this is a '99 harness.
It will not be a straight plug and play with your '01.
You will need to repin one of the connectors that go in the footwell area.
Also it will not work with your lighted visors. Remember the one wire 2 wire thing I told you about earlier.
I do have an idea for a work around there that might work.
If you want me to explain it let me know and I will.
Thinking I clutter up your thread enough already. LOL.

Don't worry about cluttering up the thread. Nothing going on in here anyway! HA!

Anyway, I got visors with the overhead console when I bought it.

They are the wrong color though. Have to do something about that.

So are the visors one wire or two?

Well I might as well run my idea by you so you have the info.

So the harness on ebay says it is for a '99. Which means the the connectors for the vanity mirror only have 1 wire.
Visors from a '99 would also have 1 wire. Cause they have an internal ground.
Your '01 has 2 wires going to the connectors on the dome light harness going to the vanity mirrors.
The mirrors also have 2 wires. External ground.
So I was wondering it the terminal inside the connector on a '99 harness was the same as an your '01.
If you could get just the vanity light connectors off an '00 or '01 dome light harness from the boneyard. With enough wire to play with.
Could you unpin the connector from the '99 harness, unpin the power wire from the pigtail from the '00 or '01, and repin
the '99 wire into the '00 or 01 connector.
Now they still would not work because they would not be grounded. But you still have a length of the ground wire coming
of the connector that you swapped from the '00 or '01 onto the '99 harness.
Maybe you could ground it to the roof somewhere up there. Hey a ground is a ground right?.

Does that make any sense?

Now since you say you got visors with the overhead let us just assume for a minute that they are '99 one wire ones.
If so maybe you can unpin the connector from the '99 visors, unpin the connector from your '01 visors, repin just the power
wire from the '01 visors into the '99 visors connector and ground the visor somewhere just like in my first idea.

Thing I don't like about my second idea is that you have to cut something.
I have commitment issues. If you needed to reverse the second idea now you have a cut wire.

At least with my first idea you just unpin and repin everything in reverse of what I wrote.

Here is a couple shots just for you to see what I am talking about.
'99 one wire visor on the left, '00 and '01 2 wire on the right.
Second shot is '99 connector on the left and '00 or '01 on the right.
That is the big connector in the footwell area that you will need to repin to get a '99 harness to work in your '01.

I follow you.
The link to the harness is in my face. I keep going to look at it and decide. LOL
I'll make the decision by the end of the day.
So, yeah. what I will do will depend on what happens next.

Oh and one last thing about the big connector in the footwell area that I just remembered.
When raiding the '99 Craigslist part out that I got my harness and overhead from I could not
get the harness out with the connector on it out of the Jeep. Not without using a pry bar to clear
some metal at the dash at the bottom of the pillar on the passenger side.
Now since the guy was junking the vehicle nobody cared.
But putting the harness in my '00 I did not want to do that.
So I unpinned the '99 connector off the harness.
Ran the wiring down the pillar into the foot well.
Then repinned my '00 connector onto it there.

I've swapped an LS into an FD and did a wire tuck on all the wires. LOTS of research and following diagrams, so I understand where you're coming from.

What I did was to grab the 00-01 visors for my 99. No cutting or anything

XJwonders is right. The appropriate visors would make life so much easier.
You have the right ones but didn't you say the visors were the wrong color?

I was thinking he meant totally wrong. Like they might be Camel and his Jeep is Agate.
Fabric can be changed but you still have the wrong color mirrors.
I looked at the picture of his overhead and to be frank can't tell if it was Camel, Agate, or Mist Gray.

Which build thread you were looking at? Lol. I got the mist grey. I actually never saw dark agate mirrors.
