Did you get a wiring harness and the bracket?
The temp sensor can be bought new.
Was used in a zillion Mopar vehicles.
Real easy boneyard find.
Did you get a short harness that would be used to attach what is on your Jeep and temp sensor?
Put a '99 overhead in my '00 so I have a little experience with this.

No bracket, No harness, no sensor, no short harness.
I'll keep my eye out for that stuff or make my own harnesses and bracket.
Thank you for the info. I probably looked through your build this morning if you had that info there. LOL
I didn't realize I would have needed all that stuff until after I got it and started researching.

The short harness to the connector hanging off the front of your Jeep is a weird situation.
When I tried to plug in a boneyard sensor into mine it would not click in. I checked it to see if would work by pushing it in by hand, holding it in, and the temp did display.
But it would not click in. Then I remembered I had the short harness. My little theory is that Mopar screwed up on the harness in the Jeep.
To fix it made the short harness.
Somebody else had the same problem and said removing that rubber gasket let them click it in. So probably not a big deal.
Now there area couple other things you should be aware of.
In a perfect world you want a harness from an '00 or '01.
Main reason is the vanity mirror visors. Your visors are 2 wire with an external ground.
'99 is one wire with an internal ground. So technically using a '99 harness in an '00 or '01 is not plug and play for the visors.
I had an idea to get around that but when I found the parts Jeep for the overhead I had done my research so grabbed everything.
Also the big connector in the footwell area has to be repinned using yours. That is nothing.
I want to tell you to not even try to use a '97 harness. Cause I think they are set up really different. But it is what research seemed to indicate.
Never having seen one up close and personal could not say for sure. '98 could not say for sure either.
My experience lies in putting a '99 in an '00.
I don't have a build thread. Everything I do is stuff that can easily be found how to do on the internet.
Nothing ground breaking with my build.
I did start this but never finished it. Probably should some day soon.

I put in a 2000 in my 99. So, to get around the visor issues. I simply installed the 2000+ visors so I won't need to mess around with the wiring in that aspect.
I also re-pinned the footwell connection.

Thank you for the input! That will get me a little further along. I took the OHC and stuck it in a cabinet until I figure everything out on what I will do.
Before that, I am researching the Electric fan for the radiator. I noticed that (when it is suppose to) it doesn't turn on until after the vehicle starts and I want to tap into that circuit for the transmission cooler fan. Hopefully that circuit energizes the same way whether the radiator fan is on or not. If it doesn't, I'll just have to tap into an accessory circuit.

I saw a video on youtube where a guy used a time delay relay on his electric fan for the radiator and he would flip the switch on then off and get out and the fan would run for a few minutes or something. I thought about getting one of those relays and seeing if it could be stuck in the factory relay spot so if you turn the Jeep off and it's hot enough for the fan to be on it'll cool the engine and engine bay off for a few minutes after the Jeep is off instead of just letting the heat sit there and soak.
That is great to find out! Thanks!!!
Also found a diagram to build your own time delay Circuits
Although, it may be better to use this off the load line. Those time delay relays aren't rated for many Amps.

I have a switch in-line if I need to turn it off for any reason.
I have it programmed to turn on 5 seconds after the key turns on. That should give me enough time to start without the fan turning on if the temp sensor is energized.
Only thing I have left to do is order some heat covering for the Positive wire running back to the temp sensor.

Took the Jeep to my buddy to do a final consult for the cage on Friday.
Sunday, with the help from the kids, got most everything removed inside. I didn't have a torx 50 to remove the seatbelts, so I have to pick that up before the end of the week to remove the rest.
I drop it off this Friday August 2.

Just be sure that you can get in where you need to with a 1/2" drive ratchet.
I needed some bigger sizes when I removed my front bumper and installed factory front tow hooks.
I was just going to buy a regular one, I was just using a ratchet not an impact, and after thinking about it for a second said screw it and
spent the extra money on the impact ones. Thinking anytime I replace or need one going impact.
Except for some of the smaller sizes of course.

Everything that needed to be removed was removed for the cage build.
Dropped the Jeep off Friday to my buddies shop.
I'll head over there this Friday to see how things are going.
The headliner was drooping, so I pulled all the material off of it. I have another friend that got a roll of suede.
Going to buy some from him to cover the headliner, but need to wait until the cage gets finished and I can get it cut to fit.
Hey came across this and thought of you.

Thinking that is not a bad price considering that I hardly ever see just the harness for sale by itself.
