I did vents rather than lifting up the rear of the hood. Just seems safer to me.

Homemade. Check my build thread here: http://forum.thexjguys.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20. Got a buddy who used to be in the armed forces and sourced me a couple F-18 engine filter screens. Definitely a "different" touch when people hear what they're from.

For those exact vents, you'll need someone who can source you the f-18 screens. Otherwise you can use vegetable grilling sheets from home depot. if you want I can help you with making the cuts and all. I'm off Friday's and Saturday's.

I tried it, used thick washers and longer bolts. Spaced the rear of the hood up 1/4". Did not notice any difference. The downfall would be in an accident, the hood could come through the windshield.
What worked much better is a fan clutch from a V8 Grand. I can drive miles in the soft sand and temps only reach 210. 215 with AC on. It will idle with AC on too with no temp rise.
The other mod also called 'hood lift' uses old lift struts to automatically lift the hood open. It's one of my favorites. No more hot-hands

Hey Ping Pong or anybody else on the peninsula. We are looking at a zj we can get for a deal. It's got a MPJAI sticker on it. I was wondering if you guys knew anything about who owned it before hand and whether it's worth our time and money.
