Default Coil Spacer Dilema

I bought a 1999 cherokee sport from a guy awhile back. He had put a 4.5 rubicon on it then dropped the front a bit. He said he did it too make the gears right. My question is, can i put coil spacers in the front to level it? Will the Gears be screwed up? Thanks very much.

It shouldnt hurt your gearing.... might effect your driveline though. Dont know what kind of angle your drive shafts will be at.

Lift has no effect on gearing at all. Maybe drive shaft angle?

How much is the front different? if its only a little then it shouldnt make any difference

Lifting has no effect on gearing, maybe if he was running larger tires too, that has a big effect on the gearing, but with a 2" spacer lift you won't even notice. Throw some 30-31's on it and call it a day.

MY guess... would be since it is a 99, it has a low pinion axle.. so he lowered the front to do away with drive line vibes

Some time in mid to late 99 is when they changed from the HP.. so If you have an early 99 then yes.. it is entirely possible it is HP.. the Late 99 on had LP's

No worries man... Its a jeep thing... and I understand

The issue with any lifts over 3.5" is caster and pinion angles start to cause vibes. The way to deal with these issues is buy adjustable upper control arms, and set caster at 5*-8* is best but you can go more or less... just the return to center on the steering isnt that great.
