Stuck vehicle
Hey folks,
My brother got my parents Yukon XL stuck on a snowy logging road outside of Clifton today, and I wasn't there but apparently someone showed up with a Jeep and failed to pull it out. I'm just curious if anyone has any good ideas as far as getting it unstuck, because otherwise my dad wants to hire a tow truck to get it out and I don't want him to have to do that.
I don't really have much experience getting cars stuck other than typical situations where you can pull it out with another car. The road isn't very wide, and definitely not in ideal condition. The Yukon weighs 6-7 thousand pounds. My Cherokee is pretty stock.
Solutions?

I don't have any pictures because I wasn't actually there to see it. I know the road he was on because I was there the other day, and right now there is like a couple of inches of snow on top of soft dirt, but its patchy from the sun so there are some spots where it is worse than others.
I figure a winch is the only way out, but I don't have one... seems like the tow man may have to be called. My Dad has a come-along...

If you can get something under, in front of or behind the the tires to get some traction on top of pulling it with another vehicle may work. And with the come-along you may be able to run it from the vehicle to a tree and see if you can ratchet it out.

Those vehicles usually have both rear hitch and front tow hooks. You can get what's called a ****** block, tree saver strap and some length of winch cable or winch rope. Hook the ****** block with the tree save to a tree that is back a bit, and then run the winch cable or rope through the ****** block from one vehicle to the other and start pulling. Really works. I have used this method to pull someone forward up a trail while I was behind him.
Good Luck.

Id go with the come-along to a tree and ****** blocks like mentioned before. Tow trucks will charge a pretty big fee if they have to leave pavement to get someone out.

Either a winch equipped vehicle... or the come along plan mentioned above would be your best bet... and heck even if it doesn't work, you now have some more recovery equipment to add to your collecting in your Jeep..

Another thing that I've used is a couple of jeeps or other 4x4's connected with straps to each other to the stuck vehicle. Hook 1 strap to the stuck vehicle to the first 4x4 closest to the stuck vehicle and from the front of the second to the rear of what would be the first 4x4 and they all pull together including the stuck vehicle. This works great and hook up time is pretty quick.
Be sure to get some pics of what you do and a video would be cool as well.
Good Luck

If you have a really good tow strap and a Chevy truck if you back up and really go for it the strap builds pressure every time you yank it.try this 4-5 times and it just might work.I have done it lots of times and it works most of the time.
