Sooooo.... The new guy got me thinking. And I know I tried this before, but had little interest. Would anybody seriously be interested in a meet and greet? I think last time, a bunch of people said yes.... But then nobody could agree on a central location, and the idea just died.

Well, the crank pulley/harmonic balancer adventure was just great yesterday. I started by attempting to remove my bumper, to access the large hole directly in front of the crank. Long story short, since I have an Up Country with the OEM tow hooks, there is an additional T35(?) bolt even further back on the frame than the stock bumper bolts. I didn't have one that big, so that was out. I then attempted to remove just the metal skin of the bumper. Two of the weld nuts snapped inside the bumper. I tried to hold them with vice grips while I spun the torx, but no-go, so that was now out.
I decided to say f*&^ it, and just lay under the thing to do it. The crank bolt came out beautifully. I threw on my puller that I rented from Advance Auto, and started my pull. Nothing. Didn't budge at all. Just spun the crank. I have an auto, so I'm SOL as far as putting it in gear to be able to halt the motor from turning. I figured that the pointed die on the end of the puller was catching too much, creating friction, thus turning the crank. I put a large washer with a small hole against it with some grease. Nothing!!! At this point, 4 hours has gone by.
As I am picking up my tools to pack it in for the day, my old man shows up. He wants to look at it. I told him several times that I was too pissed off to keep working on it, and I had enough for the day. He lays under it for about 45 seconds, and says, "Well, here's your problem..." He proceeds to take off the washer that's behind the crank bolt. I was pulling the damn thing against itself. Twenty minutes later, the new pulley was on with a fresh belt.

LOL

Yeah I don't know, it was a huge torx bolt though, haha! I do want to do my "lift" soon if you're interested on a weekend off! I've been spraying all the bolts with PB for like the last month.
