So I checked my idler and it was loose, but my water pump was WAY worse.

flushed the coolant 6 times before I even got close to clear water out of it, then did the new pump with a felpro gasket. It was shaving aluminum off the housing, the shaft had about a 1/4 inch of play in it.

Now that's fixed, I have a p0100 code for my MAF i have to figure out tonight, hopefully before the hordes of trick or treaters show up.

Fun fact #57; there's no MAF sensors on the XJs

so I unplugged it and it ran the same, plugged it back in, it threw a 1-4 skip upshift code, cleared that, now its fine.

oops sorry. the MAP sensor. I also cleaned the contacts on the TPS and the MAP, and blew the throttle body out after taking it off.

I didn't know it was possible to blow a TB but that's none of my business, carry on.

idk there was some dirt and soot in it, I took it off, and hit it with some compressed air and throttle body cleaner.

Nice man, he lives right near wild cat falls. He has a Cherokee too. It's a stock unregistered 2000. He has overheated it 4 times now. Drum brakes leak, needs new universal joints in the front end, needs a new radiator. It needs some TLC, poor thing. I'm sure the 0331 has cracked. I told him a bunch of times to be careful about that. LOL.
