so for my dads birthday the end of this month and a fathers day gift, hes been wanting part of our front driveway poured with concrete we have just rocks in there now. the slab i want done is about 55" long by 13" wide. if i figured it right its about 9 square feet??? thats at 3-4 inches thick. im here in North East, MD well do all the labor im just curious as to what people think the cost of material to be hauled here and poured and finished would run? i wont mind paying the extra to get it laid nice and smooth and have someone with the right tools come in and make it smooth. we do pretty good for small lays but thats a pretty dang big piece and and i wanna make sure its right. can anyone point me in a right direction? recommendations? any concrete workers here that have the tools and wanna make a weekend out of it... ill supply materials and food and beer?

About the size of mine which I did myself, concrete delivered.
Preparation is the key, if not solid ground, the concrete will crack no matter who does the work.
.
1. you need at least 4 people, two working the screener, one steering the chute, one gopher ( go for this go for that, get another, etc. )
2. i'd make four sections, do one per week.
3. Start at the far end so truck won't roll over previously poured sections.
4. The area is too large to do all at once unless you have four peple per section.
5 most truck drivers are nice guys, HOWEVER, my brother did a drive once, the truck driver said he was late, had to leave quick, dumped three yards in a big pile in center, what a mess.
6. It gets harder sooner than you wanted !!!.

yea i didnt realize that the price of concrete was so high for 9yds the local company quoted me with a grand and all they do is come pour and leave. i really didnt expect it myself.
weve laid many concrete pads so my old man has the idea i just want to get an idea for the cost of concrete but after finding that out its a wash i cant really afford to drop that right now, not this short of notice. i figured it be about half that. but i guess i was wrong

If its a driveway i would get it professionally done with rebar, do it right so itll last 20+ years of abuse. Ive seen self done driveways and they never last years. Around me its $100 a yard, poured and finished if that helps.

now you just ask for the fiberglass filler to be added during the mix when setting the price and quantity (canno be added after the truck shows up)
or do both, filler and rebar
Too expensive, I hear you.
The concrete is WAY better for repairing jeeps then the dirt I was used to.
