Hey fellow Alabamians.

I'm halfway in the market for a 97+ 4 door 4wd xj to DD to work and to take hunting to keep the miles off my truck.

I've got 2 questions.

1. I'd like to spend no more than $2000. Trim level/options doesn't matter. It doesn't have to be a showcar just something mechanically sound and no serious body damage. Dents and dings or replacing a few worn out parts is fine. Is that a reasonable price range?

2. How do they do towing? During hunting season it would be used to pull a boat weighing about 2000 lbs every weekend.

I would not expect anything nice for $2000. Good tires cost $1000 now days . You can probably find something with 200k miles on it for that. I saw a decent 2 door on craigslist for around $3k not long ago, but alas it is sold.

It should not have any problems towing a boat. Just make sure the brakes are good...

Welcome to the club!

Cool, Did you get it? Where the hell did you find a jeep for $200? I can't even find a winch bumper for that cheap, and I have been looking for a while!! Post some pics of it. What are your plans for it?
