as for your rig. i get how you wanna keep it simple. but yeah, doors off, hatch off and hood off will get you an excellent finished product. do you have another set of wheels while the jeeps getting done? itll take a weekend or so. gotta prep it and that takes the most time.

im gonna get my buddy from up here to haul my old jeep home for me. hopefully this weekend i can get it home and start getting the brackets off for you.
Most of the taking off should be simple. my doors are already removible, my hood is going to be pined, hatch i think ill leave alone though. You can have the jeep as long as it take to get done. I always have something else to drive. I got alot of fab to start and finish before im ready though

I would be more than happy to help you get the axles under your rig. are you guna leave them full width or narrow them? Balistic fabrication has some real nice piece to do such things to the front. I recomend tnt ubes for the back

well, just keep me informed on when your wanting to get the painting done. as for my axles, im back on the drawing board. the one i found is a low pinion, closed knuckled 44 and i want a high pinion. im after a 78 or 79 f250 front 44 or a 77-79 f150 supercab front 44 from the research ive done. they are both leaf sprung setup with full tubes and open knuckled. when i do find the ones i want, i will be narrowing them. i wanna keep it as close to stock looking as possible. just beefier.

narrowing might be out of my realm just of yet. when you find the one you want i will do some reasearch. i dont see it being to hard, cutting tools, degree finder, and welder. I would probably tack everything and then send it to work with a buddy of mine so he can weld with a 440v welder. 440 is the shiz

Lets try to keep this one at the top of the MIDWEST section.

iwheeljeepxj I would be more that happy to help you with your jeep but i am not big on house calls and cant really help that much unless i can touch/feel/see. If you wanna bring it down i give advise and tips out free. I sell parts cheaper than anyone else. and i will let you use my shop (1 day max) to fix and test. I am pretty good at diagnosis

yea that is true thats why i was like maybe theres something i don't know. but it's my only form a transportation and if it's not running then i can't get down there. and i'm also in the process of looking for a job.

got a question tho. if i put the drive shaft back in and then put it in drive and it moves that would mean that its my transfer case thats messed up and not my tranny correct?

hopfully. trannys are pretty stout in these things. A lot of them i buy with "bad trannys" the torque converter bolts fell out. dumb problem but it happens to alot of them. You t-case is the weakest link in the driveline(after shafts of course). If you broke something good chance it was t-case. if t-case is broke it is probably just chain. you can replcae those as long as you dont drive with it broke. if you ever make it down i got a cool t-case sitting around that got drove 10miles with a broken chain. its a beauty

Does you t-case have fluid?
do your diffs have fluid?

they are some of the more important things that need fluid but almost no one even checks them.

ok, done my research and figured out which 44s work and which ones dont. so i started searching the area craigslist and found a 76 f150 with a 44 and a 9 inch. i think im gonna jump on it and snag it up but the guy wants me to buy the whole truck for 50 bucks more than i offered for the axles. lol. so now i guess i got myself an old ford pick em up truck. lol. im gonna cut the axles out and scrap the rest. the frame is toast i guess. so get ready.... im gonna get em out and start cutting mounts off and getting the tubes ready for shortening and new mounts.

bought that ford today. 76 f150. so now i offically have a set of axles for my jeep. the truck has a 205 transfer case in it and those are some tough units from what im hearing. gear on gear with no chain... i wonder if advanced adaptors make an adaptor for it to the aw4.

i finally got the nod to rip the jeep apart at my work so im gonna start getting into that hear in the next day or so. i need to get some big *** jackstands to put it on so i can take the drop brackets out for ya pos1. lol.

205 is pretty much badest t-case ever.

ill fix your bumper when ever you want just make sure you bring down the drop brackets also. Id like it if you brought down the stererin box brace to. It would be super easy for my to make the brace but it would be even easier to model it.

ill start looking stuff up on narrowing those axles tomorrow. if you find any write up at all on them send them my way so i can read through them
