Ya the front end of my jeeps just buried under crap! Pretty sure it was the long shaft. I'll have to hit ya up when I get the locker, cause lord knows I can screw up a lunchbox locker!

I swapped out the Low Pinion(LP) Dana 30 for an XJ High Pinion in my TJ. I regeared it with an OX locker and 4.56's. I beat the ever loving snot out of that axle for 4 years on a few sets of 35" MTRs. It wasnt until i stepped up to 37" MTR's that the STOCk stub shaft finally gave up the ghost. As stated above they share the same Dana 297-X ujoint as a D44 ('90+ housings; 260x before) which is decently stout. I replaced my shafts after the break with a set of ALLOY USA 30 Spline chromo's (stock is 27spl) and CTM 297's and never had a prob. Oh yeah and I re-welded the tubes top the housing w/ stainless wire to prevent the tubes from spinning, trussed the housing and inner C's, and replaced the lower control arm mounts with 1/4" versions. It was the most polished turd ever, but it never failed to amaze me.
Found this kinda been reading up on it thought I would share it any thoughts

I want the flares, any way your coming to SLC any time soon?
As I have said before, I wouldn't worry about it unless your snapping shafts or at a 35" tire and an aggressive driver, unless your having to rebuild your current setup to the point money is already being spent on them and your want bigger for w/e reason (which is why I swapped mine)
most people say in a D30, or D44 the U-joint is the first to go, QUALITY u-joints are a must, cheap 8-11$ autozone joints will only hold up to so much abuse, they are not designed to take what we do. they are made to get you to the grocery store. the nicer 30$ + spicer/off road joints are worht the money IMO, cheap insurance that could cost you a shaft + time on a trail.
