Anyone had to replace or refresh their cylinder head on here? If so where'd you take it? What'd you pay? Their pretty cheap online so I'm just weighing options.

I've replace head with cylinder head exhange they also do full head work also, for cleaning and resufracing the head I either go to napa or knights. Napa is cheaper but sometimes you gotta wait for a while esp if your on a time crunch. They both clean and pressure test it to see if it need a valve job or not and they will let you know.

Thanks, I didn't know napa could surface, clean, and pressure test it. Was looking at just buying a new one, but ive found a few other avenues now!

I don't know why I love my XJ so much. There is always something breaking on it. This week I have had a master cylinder fail (while I was approaching a red light) and tonight the fuel pump seems to have taken a dump...and I just filled the tank yesterday. Guess I know what I'll be working on with my day off. It's a labor of love.

So autozone carries fuel pumps from three different manufacturers. Delphi, Airtex and Spectra and they all cost about the same? Does anyone know which is best or if it even makes a difference?

I've heard from a few people that Bosch are the best. They're more expensive but should last significantly longer than a cheapo Airtex or Spectra.
