So, I don't think it's starting a new thread over, but it's a topic that's been in my mind for a while. Did some searching, even participated in a thread, but am still curious... What do you guys air down to when you go out in the CO wilderness? No beadlocks as well please, and what do you guys do to air back up to drive home?

airing down with non bead locks will depend on the tire/rim width ...if you run a 12.50 wide on 8 wide rims with typical bfg or good year you can get away with about 8-10 , as the narrow rim and wider tire will help you keep your bead I run 18 inch wide tires on a 10 wide rim and they are stiff bias ply boggers so I can run 3-5 psi no problems . you can air up with a plug in compressor or some other onboard air someone in the group should have a way to air up if emergency comes up ...always go in a group bare minimum 1 other vehicle, and some trail heads are so close to service stations you can just drive to them to fill back up ...reseating a bead on the trail can be done with something like starting fluid and a match ...boom....then quickly add air before heated air in tire cools and sucks your valve stem in.

Pretty much what I was hearing before and then some haha. Just the 8-10 thing scares me I guess, I don't wanna risk a bead if I don't have to and figured 10 would probably be the lowest I'd go, and even then I may be nervous haha. As for the plug in compressors, I have one I just wonder if it'd burn out trying to refill such a large tire and how slow it would be

with say 33's going from 10 psi wil take a few minutes a tire ,but you will only be doing this on trail so the compressor should last a little while . I was going to convert my a/c compressor to an air compressor...but I guess I like my working a/c 2 much still to do that ,but a/c compressors used for air compressors work sweetly .

yeah, it'd be for a 33x12.5 on an 8 inch wide rim, so I guess your info pertains sweetly to my situation. Wheeling on 10-15psi, if I weren't alone and someone else were doing the same, it'd put me at ease. I'm more worried about driving on the roads with 10-15psi haha, so I'll have to test the compressor I have before I risk it on the trail

Always ran ten and have done some gnarly stuff and still have yet to pop a bead. I don't air up anymore cuz I trailer but I rarely did when I didn't trailer only cuz it was soft and squishy and made for a fun ride. I have how ever ripped a valve stem off. Not so much fun so be-careful if u rub up against rocks. I just ordered beadlock kits for my wheels.

Thanks Seth, I'll probably start with like 15-20 psi and work my way down. Seems like a lot of people use the cigarette plug in compressors like I already have, I just figured they'd take forever and overheat.

Go 12 at least. Your spine and teeth will thank u later. I was on bill moore today rippin through at 30mph didnt feel a thing. The little plug in ones will overheat. As well as the connect to battery ones. Just give it break in between tires.

Haha ok, I'll do 12 to start, just seems crazy low. When the Jeep is mobile again and I can get my compressor, I'll see how it does on a tire from 12psi and go from there. I still gotta call you about shocks too, again. Haha

10psi is my normal. Hell even for DD I only run a little over 20. To air up I have on board air with a storage tank, nothing like being able to run air tools in the middle of a forest.
