I'm all about it. And I can get my brother to come too. He has been here since 97 and doesn't really get to get out as much now with 3 girls, all under 13. I have a 4yr old and a nearly 2 yr old, but my wife is amazing and can handle it if the boys wanna take some man time and go play a little.... I'd bet we'd have a couple little girls tagging along, but it's all good....
Haha. Sounds good to me. My 12 and 13 year olds probably wouldn’t be interested in coming unless we were camping. But my 4 year old and 2 yr old might tag along. Actually these days for getting dirty make for good family time and fun. But a lot of times my family doesn’t want to go. If I’m not mistaken, you said you were from Port Arthur? I’m very familiar with PA. My ex wife’s family is from there so we’d visit at least twice a year.
[QUOTE=RockyMtn96XJ;3629578]I've only lived in CO for 3 years even though the rest of my immediate family has been here since 1997. When I used to come visit, we only went out once to off road, and I can't tell you where it was since it was 20 some odd years ago...
So, where are some of the really close places near Denver (I live in Littleton) that I can get to in about 45 minutes, not have to worry about breaking anything, and I can take the wife and kids. The Rainbow Falls area looks fairly easy according to a lot of the pics on google people have loaded... but what's some other places? I have looked at the map several times (google and my paper atlas) and I see a lot of dirt roads and stuff winding through the mountains, but I dont know if its just a flat dirt road, or if its considered and "OHV" trail, fire road, or what. And I dont want to go down some random road and get to a spot I cant turn around if needed.[/QUOTE
You live a just a little ways from were I am. Slaughter house Gulch is probably the closest trail from our location. (Less then 1 hour away) It's pretty fun but is closed from January 1rst.-June 10. In fact a good % of the trails in the south of I-70 have the same restrictions. Ecept a few so those become my go to if I want to get out. One of my favorites when the snow starts to take over is taking Mnt. Herman rd. Down to the Schubarth trail right next to Rampart reservoir. Mnt. Herman is pretty tame but has some nice spurs to explore that does get pretty fun. Getting there is probably one of the prettiest drives to be had. If you take Sante Fa to Sedalia goes west to 105 to Palmer Lake through to Monument. There is a lot of dispersed campsites all along these trails. And in the summer you can camp to a lot of great places down that way via a network of dirt roads. One of my favorites is the Garden of the Gods. It gets busy but the hiking is great.
The trails up by Central city are pretty close too. Can't wait for summer to get here.
So a fellow Xj owner (friend Greg) came down thus weekend and we traded some labor so 5hat we could each get something done on our rigs. I was able to swap in my new Dana 30 and he got his heater core. It has been a great weekend. It looks like I will get the chance to go with Mark and his brother to Rainbow Falls (little Moab) on Wednesday the 30th we will be arriving at 9:00 and should be hanging around until 9:30, in case anyone is interested in having some Xj fun! RockyMtn96XJ, Gearwhine, Jdmluvr?

So I apologize if anyone tried to go yesterday and We weren't there at 9:00 like we meant to be. We had Marks alternator go out on us as we got to Sedalia, had to run back to Orielly's and nab a new one. So we were there at 11 instead. Anyways we had a pretty good time once we got there. My axles are solid. and my rig did very well out playing on and around little Moab. Marks rig is much more capable than mine as he is on 35's and has a Ford 8.8 with 4.88 gears and Limited slip. But I now have my rig set-up to still go out and play while I work on my Danna 30 and 44 to install later. It was perfect weather conditions and the terrain was very fun to drive on.
Here are a few photos I took of our day Above little Moab Mar standing below the ledge we went up on the easier side of little Moab My first successful attempt at this hill. first time I attempted the harder line and broke both axles shafts being stupid. The lower gearing helped a lot Mark playing on little Moab Was a great day out there for sure!!!
Considering going out to play next weekend. Probably just down by Monument, for the morning. Just putting it out there in case someone might want to get out also.
Last weekend my wife and I tagged along with a few rigs from Overland Bound for a overnight-er. We went from Colorado Springs to Victor/Cripple Creek then took the shelf road down to a OHV area where we camped after doing a pretty fun trail, next morning we went around the corner to Red Canyon park through to Seep-Springs were we did some more trails and a little hiking.
I must say 4.10 gears makes wheeling my rig a pleasure to drive, can't wait to have lockers and 4.55's.
Well me and the wife did something stupid last night (her idea). We went up to yankee hill alone. There was a lot of snow at the bottom from the Columbine campground side. There was a point I couldn’t make it up this hill because Of the ice and incline. Thankfully we didn’t get stuck and it was a fun night run.
Hey y’all, first time here. I’m in north Denver about Speer and 32nd, and a proud XJ owner.
I’m in desperate need of help. My pride and joy was stolen from me last night. I thought who better to keep an eye out than other loving owners of XJ’s.
its a 95 with an auto trans and all manual windows and locks.
I’m a simple man, a proud father of a baby girl. We’re renting a cheap apt, wife is a high school teacher, we don’t ask for any handouts. All I want is my Jeep back. I was planning on waiting until my girl was 14 or so and getting her involved in fixing it up to be her car at 16.
do y’all think you can help me keep a lookout? I got DPD on if but the more eyes the better.
Distinctive characteristics: search light at drivers side, two CB antenna hookups on roof, front bumper on passenger side pushed in, bad repair job on drivers door, extra license plate holder on liftgate, uhaul hitch.
I sadly realize that it’s probably been picked for parts. So if anyone in the Denver area is shopping for parts and comes across something that matches this description, please let me know.
Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about your XJ, I hope it is recovered quickly and I will do my part to help out and spread the word. I'm a little south-west of Denver but will tell my brothers who live there to look for it too. I'm always looking at XJ's around town and will keep my eyes peeled for yours.
Not sure if anyone uses the AllTrails app, but I got an email this morning for 50% off the year subscription. So it’s $14.99 for the year. The discount code is: 50newyear21
