Hey JandD, wanna meet up and make the trade? Maybe get a hand in checking out the electrical issue... I'm kind of an electrician. I mean.... I work on satellites to go in space....

Yeah I’m curious to know how the run was. Sorry I backed out last minute. I just didn’t want to go without tow hooks in the front (which I will be selling these) and not to mention I didn’t even have my gear ready because I was messing with the damn hooks. But I’ll be ready for next time! I ended up using the day to take my bumpers off, take the fender flares off to cut my fenders and start welding my new bumpers up.

The trail had some snowy and icy spots,, but was not really a issue.. More of a psych out as you approached some of the spots. I sometimes forget how fun that trail is. (It's just very short).
Nick is pretty "chill" he made it a fun day out on this trail. If you get a chance to go with him, you're going to have a great time.
My Jeep was fine, but my voltage gauge is still acting funny. The reason I'm so concerned about it, is that my son's 95 Xj had a small electrical fire at his engine bay fuse box once melting down half of the box. So I'm searching for anything that might be wrong to avoid something like that happening to me deep in the woods. I'm getting a higher output alternator today. And am in the middle of swapping my axles out during my vacation so it was nice to get some fun in before tearing into it. I am also making good headway on my roof rack. It is almost ready to be fitted to thr roof rails.
I'm putting a New Years day run together with a local 4x4 that I occasionally go with. Since the main requirement of this club is that you do a trail run at least once a year to keep your membership active, (it is funded through donations twice a year, (which is limited to what it cost to keep the lights on).so as to be sure money is not an obstacle for anyone). It has become a tradition for me. I enjoy running trails with this group and if you are interested you can join in too. (I should have my rig back together by then).
I was thinking about doing Schubarth loop down by Rampart reservoir. It's a pretty fun trail even when its snowy. (Not near as scetchy as Slaughter house Gulch gets! In deep snow)
Sorry we didn't get the chance to go on Saturday, we will have to set up something again soon. Maybe I'll do a shakedown run when my rig is back together.
P.S. when I first started wheeling I took a lot of pictures, now unless I'm somewhere new I hardly ever take photos. Sorry I kind of depend on others in the group I go with. Maybe Nick will have some he would like share.

I hope to have the remainder of my parts arrive by the new year, and with a little luck, and help, we can have my XJ lifted and ready for the trail. I'll start to get together a tool box with plenty of tools and gear to use as well. Straps, shorty shovel, hooks, chain? (does anyone use chain anymore, or just straps?), plenty of wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, torx bits, etc...
I'll find a good thread about what to add in a tool box and recovery gear box.

Haha. I still carry a chain as a backup, but use straps. My wife makes fun of me because of the stuff I carry not only off-roading but also just on road trips. Silicone, epoxy, aircraft wire, and electrical tape are usually my extras I take. Then of course basic hand tools.
I’m always up for a trail run, now that I have my recovery points figured out. So if anyone goes during the winter, keep me in mind. I’ll have lockers soon too.
My Xj will soon have 3rd row so my whole family will be going for family time.
