I know the builder charged a bit less than some well known shops ,but total work done there was $3,500 for all work done and I know the materials used do not amount to more than about $500 in metal for bumper/cage , so I'm really confused as why we would hide a kinked tube rather than redo it right ...anywho that section of tube work will most likely be gone as the cut line for what i see as the new bodyline would be higher and at a much sharper angle like the cut line on the Hooligans XJ , but should I flop it on driver side and fold that kinked tube before I fix it ,well ...the builders choices could get him a kinked jaw line ,as I can see no possible way he can explain this as anything but screwing me .
WHy dont you just talk to him instead of bashing online? maybe it was your roll over that kinked the tube. and internet threats are cute say something over the phone to the guy. dont be a jackass man. not tryin to cause a stir but really call him if you have an issue.

I don't have a oil pressure gauge but if you are still working on the issue I'm free this Sunday and wouldn't mind helping. I'm not mechanic but can turn a wrench. Let me know.

On a side note anyone have experience cutting and folding fenders and want to give me a hand?

you're going to insinuate a mild flop to the opposite side of the Jeep that resulted in zero damage to a cage that still has no damage is the cause of the kinked bend in the tube ...lol...if I even remotely thought this was an extreme use result I would not be posting ,but rather this is me looking at the rear quarter fender tubing and d-pillar bar very hard while thinking about where to cut in the future and finally noticing this very hard to spot kink ,which is in a structural location that if it folds results in the roof caving ,which is what that's supposed to prevent . It's pretty hard to see him bending the trube not noticing the kink and then handling all the way through the burning home process on the Jeep and not noticing this KINK ,but once it's on it's turned into the body and only about a 16th away from the body line so extremely hard to spot if not looking for it .

Let me share this history with you ...my Friend Rick and I pick up the Jeep after cage is finished and while talking for about 30 minutes dustin says nothing and then as Rick and I are focused on the very obviously BUTT welded hood cross bar , and then Rick commenting on it being a bit uneven Dustin pipes up stating it's not just BUTT welded it's also SLUGGED ...lol...now this being unpainted the seam stood out plain as day ,but D-man never mentioned it until spotted , but think about this if you would butt weld this together rather than do it correctly with fresh section of tube and not mention it until spotted , well why would you not burn home a kinked section of tubing that is extremely hard to spot and may never be noticed by the customer ,and if it does fail just blame it on the rig being heavy ,which would be lame as you built it for said rig not a suzuki . I was cool with the BUTT welded cross bar it should hold ,but not the Kink as it is a major loss of integrity on that pillar .

I'm not being a Jackass there is more to this than you're aware of ,so it would be best you do not come into this defending him and then attempting at the end of your post to try to back peddle yourself into a neutral position ...lol...that's cute

Trust me Seth I can bash him , as like I said you do not know the full deal , and in that deal I already have approached every mistake made on the work ,and during that approach got hosed and even blamed by the builder for his oversights/mistakes , which is why I don't bother seeking him out as I passed that point .

We are cool , but please stay you aSSSS out of my business as you have no clue what the deal is ,and are I'm sure leaning towards one side thinking that for no reason your buddy is getting an internet bashing . trust me if the shoe was on the other foot you would be doing the same .

What's up fellas. I'm new to the forum, have hung out on jeepforum.com for a bit, but realized most of their knowledge is about lifts and tires and not much actual wheelin. Cool to see a Denver centric group. I have a tame xj compared to lots of you, but it's still my daily driver. Just got back from a Moab trip, lots of sweet trails. I have been bitten by the 4x4 bug pretty hard after that trip, would love to hit some trails with ya'll.

Haven't got much else to say right now.

95 Jeep Cherokee. Nothing fancy. No 4wd, no lift, but it's serving dual purpose--transportation and educational tool. Some day, I may have something more suited for taking out on trails.

I'm learning that I can do a lot more than I ever thought I could with regards to fixing a car, and that it's ridiculously easy to lose a Jeep in a parking lot.

I'm in one of the parts of Aurora where the streets were designed by throwing spaghetti at a wall. Things I think of as landmarks 'sort of around' me: Southlands Mall, The Movie Tavern, and Smoky Hill Public Library.

Cut some oval holes in the tail of trailer to pop in some Leds I bought , and they looked great until I tried to put the wiring in them and pop them in ...lol...if I had only done an 1/8th inch rear tube crossmember it would have fit ,but that damn 1/4 wall left to little internal space , so off to BIG-R to see if I could find slimer lights ,and bam for $40 bucks less per light I got LEDS with just 2 LEDS less than the high dollar ones ( that don't fit) and popped them in and wired up the rest of trailer .

So now I decide instead of looking like I wasted $90 on a pair of LED tail lights that would not fit without a a ton of fit work I will put them in the XJ in place of the LEDs in it as these are much brighter , and since I'm pulling out the lights I might aswell figure out the "mystery" lighting issue that "baffled" the installer that had the passenger tail light dim compared to driver ,and my passenger tail light going out when passenger front door was open and with passenger front open the markers would dimly pulse even with lights off , so after running a simple "GROUND" for the tail light in question the " MYSTERY" lighting issue was solved...

Thanks.

It was scary at first, but I'm starting to get more comfortable doing things. Afraid I'm about to hit a snag real soon, though. Garage is full of non-moving car [that I may be able to fix some day because of this], and the driveway isn't a safe area for using a jack or stands.
