Yep, I envision a crusty layer on top, and absolute sugar on the bottom... Odds are very good it will be extremely tough and slow going, as that sugar simply provides zero traction and there really are no options. But as they say, a bad day wheelin' beats a good day at work!! See you Sunday morning!

I'd really like to go guys but not sure if I can get a trailer that quick. I am going to try since I don't like to drive the jeep that far and then wheel and try hard not to break stuff. Hopefully I can pull it off. I was just out that way toward salmon dam I've fishing last weekend and got my truck stuck in some pretty nasty snow. It's pretty damn deep and almost perfect for snow wheeling. Brings back memories from snow wheeling in wa.

Toby: I talked to Jason Armstrong from the club (his company is also doing work out to the yogurt plant) and he may not be bringing his kids. The weather forecast is for a high of 30, mostly clear skies and no precip. Should be a good day.

Gobolts: If you don't find a trailer come anyway. I will be bringing my trailer and if there is a breakdown for you or anyone, I will haul the rig back to wherever it needs to go. My niece who will be riding with me can drive my XJ back home.

I may bring some firewood in case we could want a little campfire during lunch time.

Excellent!! I think I'm going to bring my little single burner Coleman to heat up some soup/chili/water to keep the insides toasty

And ditto on the trailer. If you run into an issue, I'd gladly let you put yours on the trailer for the trip home and just drive mine back.

Sounds good for the chili. I have a two burner stove also if we need it. I bought a bundle of firewood today and some fire starter gel. We'll see how the day goes.

Mike (West89): you will have an awesome rig when it is done.

West89: tires sound great. What will you be running for axle ratios with those tires?

I got my XJ loaded on the trailer this afternoon, gassed up and ready to go for Sunday's run. What? Me eager? I feel the yeehaws welling up already.

Thinking of snow conditions, if Jerry Duffy comes with either of his rigs, we will have a very good track breaker. His rigs are powerful, well set up and he is an excellent driver. Jeff Trammell's rig is no slouch either and he is also an excellent/experienced driver. I'm glad to let them break open the trail and then just try to keep up.

Could not agree more!! I left my foolish pride back in AZ the last time I rolled my flat fender Ever since then, I've been just fine simply running with the pack. I'll be loaded up before noon today, and plan to spend this afternoon preparing some manifold burritoes and other trail food goodness

If you are going bigger than 33" on the tires, I'd go 4.56 -5.13 on the ratio. I'm speaking from my own experience here......

As for the 8.8, We bought the two we have from a salvage yard on the south edge of Twin....

Ace's auto salvage: 734-6155

the 3.55 open 8.8 was $200 the 4.10 true trac was $300 but that's been a few years ago.

The true trac seemed like a good cheap way to go, back when I bought it. However, it's going to cost me more in the long run, because I'll have to change out more pieces when I install a locker this spring.

Another thing to consider is that if you can get an 8.8 with the 4.10s, you won't have to change out the carrier if you go to 4.56s later.... saves about $80 bucks.

For you guys headed for the hills tomorrow....... post some pics!
