Twin Falls Area
Sounds great. We have dinner plans at 5pm, so an early afternoon departure from the area sounds perfect. We'll have our 2-way's on channel 10, sub channel 20. If yours don't have sub channels, we'll just use channel 4, and try both to make contact as we approach Rogerson. We'll plan to have Rogerson in the windshield at 9am. Will be pulling the XJ with a white 2002 Suburban.

Don't mean to horn in on the thread but noticing you guys talking CB radio and wondering if there is a common channel 4 wheelers, you know like the truckers use channel 19? Just installing CB antenna this weekend on my XJ.
BTW, I hunt just west of Jarbidge wilderness.. Planning my first road trip to that area when mods are complete.. if the new USFS maps due out this month don't have ALL the roads closed. have fun tomorrow!

I'd like to join you all, but already promised the wife to take her to Twin and get some shopping done.
If you're eating in Jarbidge at the Outdoor Inn, I recommend their homemade ice cream (peanut butter or mint chic. chip)..... Also, that road out of Murphy Hot Spring to the top of the mesa, can get real nasty slick!

If you want to want to go up over the mesa from Murphy's sometime in the Spring, I'd be happy to join you. You can take the road clear over to Jarbidge, or head east and drop into Robinson Hole. I have some pics posted on the forum that were posted last year of that area.
Due to a last minute conflict of schedules by one of th participants, the trip to Jargidge planned for today was cancelled. We will regroup and plan something after the first of the year.
The dunes area by American Falls would be a great winter wheelin area also.
As far as I know, there is no common CB channel for off-roading. We have often used channel 4 but only as an arbitrary selection agreed upon by the group.
Rteecher, thanks for your input We will be going into the area again and hopefully you can go with us. The Red Dog is the only cafe open this time of year and only from Thursday through Sunday I think. We usually stop and see Ray at the old trading post. It is a hoot and so is he.
Elkoguy, I would love to make the trip from Jarbidge to Elko next spring. Perhaps we can work out meeting you along the way.

dirtster,
I agree, would be a kick in the pants.
Hey, any "parts" XJ's around there or real cheap stock drivers? Needed to get some suspension parts for my grandson's 2000.
Thanks.

Keep an eye on the Twin Falls Craigslist. From time to time there are XJ part listed. I also know a guy who is parting out an XJ for the engine. What parts do you specifically need? I'll find out if he still has those parts.

Front diff assembly for sure. Control arms and possibly complete front end minus trackbar and tie rods. I'll ask the son-in-law for a list.
Thank you very much!

Thought I'd drop a picture of my jeep since I just figured out how to do photos from my phone.

Just bought it in September and have done nothing but upgrades since. Probably put only 50 miles on it so far. Should be ready for the snow if it ever gets here. Going to test fit my chains tomorrow.
Looking forward to wheeling with my grandson who's 17. Red XJ is his first vehicle.. I talked him into that instead of the CJ or Wrangler.

Wow, Gary, nice XJ! Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm eager to meet you sometime and do some wheelin.
One thing about the donor XJ I have in mind, it is an 89 model. I think some of the suspension part would fit but you might want to check that out. The other issue is that I know he wouldn't be too interested in pulling the parts. If he still has them and the parts will fit yours and if the price is right, you may need to come to Buhl to pull the parts. I will be glad to help you.
Let me know. Or, if you find something on Craigslist in the TF area, I will gladly check it out for you. In the meantime, I will keep my eyes open for possibilities. Tracy

Gary, nice shop too. My old XJ piece of junk next to yours will make yours look even better. lol One thing about it though, I'm over being concerned about getting mine scratched up ... lol It already has so much rock-rash and limb scrapes that it doesn't matter anymore. Tracy
Mike, it is an 89 so whatever an 89 has I'm sure that's what it is. There has been a lot of parts taken off so I'm not sure what is left. The engine is still in it last time I was there so it is a good possibility the oil gauge stuff is still intact. He lives outside of Buhl in Mellon Valley. I'll try to remember to give him a call.
