Hahaha that is a big **** up for sure. We've all ****ed up though. Where do you plan on getting the head done at?
I forgot the name, but it's the place my buddy is having his engine built for his
100 k+ chevelle he's building for sema. I'm actually buying Jared's engine off him... havnt decided if I'm gonna swap engines or just use the good head and do head gasket
Well I made a minor **** up last night too while bolting my transmission oil pan back up. I stripped one of the bolt holes. I should've known better than to keep torquing the bolt at an angle.
What are my options? Thread inserts? Re-tapping? What's the best route, and what have any of you guys done in similar situations?
Head gasket is no fun. Thanks all for the welcome. I dug into the cherokee today looking for the water leak I found. and for the crack the block supposedly had. (Leak was from over the bell housing so I thought core plug). After getting in there I found this.
From water pump about 8" back.
Also found my exhaust leak, both rear primaries cracked at weld from main pipe on header. Think I have a lead on new engine so will chase that in the next week or so.
Biggest **** up of my life working on cars happened yesterday... My wife's water pump went out on me on the freeway a couple nights ago so I replaced the water pump, t Stat, hoses, fan clutch, and belt yesterday... So my wife drives it last night and blew the head gasket cuz my ******* forgot to tighten the hose clamp at the tstat housing and the hose popped off on the summerlin Pkwy to 95 interchange
Don't know if you've done a head job on. 97-01 jeep before...but the drivers side head bolt closest to the firewall...its a 12 point, has to be 3/8 drive, deep well. I think it's half inch in bolt head size but a 1/2" drive ratchet won't fit. Weird but what I had to deal with when I did my head.

Its tight, but I did get one to fit. I had to pound the firewall back a bit, but I got it to work.
Decided im going to hump n bump so i have over a month to get stuff buttoned up. New rear carrier with locker, new front tube doors, weld in 2x6 for rock sliders. Hell might even buy the RADesigns rail shifter and install that too

Ya actually I was in the process of doing the head gasket on a 98 I picked up for $200, but then it got hot so I stopped, but all I did was drop the motor mount since I already had it loose and used the same 1/2" 12pt I used in the rest of the drivers side bolts.
Well if anyone saw my post from Sunday and was curious of the outcome, I used a Heli-Coil kit on the stripped tranny pan bolt hole. It worked. Success.

So I got the engine out of my truck, but I had to do it on the street where it was flat cuz my driveway is too steep, now I can't get the ****er up the driveway
