How much would the 8.25 go for new or out of a junk yard and what kind of rig would I have to pull it out of

Slight modification, it'll fit any Cherokee. People do it all the time.

It fits them all.

Jared, 97+ for sure is the 29 spline.

Ben, make sure you get berrings too. The 27 spline is smaller diameter.

I'm unaware of any differences that would cause it not to work...
C8.25 I'd pull from 98+ xj
You'd want to find one with 29 spline axle shafts
Do some research to be sure it can be done tho

Also with swaping to a 8.25 you need larger 3" u-bolts AND the spring pad off the donner XJ. The tiny d35 axle tubes are 2.5".

Up for doin mine next?? Lol jk. Still need to save up an get an 8.25 and all the hardware. Think what I'll do is save up, get the axle, rebuild it, lock it, disk brakes, and what ever else before I put it in. Figure everything would be easier with it not being on the vehicle an build it over time.
