Thats good, at least its a simple fix. 3 u joints and a centering ball rebuild kit. Its a pretty easy task. Probly cost you around 120$ for everything depending on the u joints u buy.

It may just be one of the u joints is bad, but if it were me and you plan on wheeling it, I would just go ahead and rebuild the whole deal.

at first I thought "hey, maybe I'll just buy a new front shaft with everything good to go, then just keep this one as an emergency backup kinda deal" .. then I started looking at drive shaft prices.. HOLY *BLEEP* are they spendy! lol.. new u-joints it is then.

is this just a grab em at vatozone kinda thing, or should I be hitting up an of road shop for these? I do like to wheel her a bit, so I would like something that will hold up OK.. also, do I need to do anything with the shaft itself? like, take it apart and regrease it?

The front ds doesnt see to much abuse really but I would go spicer anyways. They are only 15$ each i think and the autozone duralast gold are 12.99

When you replace the two u joints in the double cardon joint, check out the centering ball and make sure it rotates smooth. Throw some grease in it also, grease up the slip in the ds also.

The centering ball could be the cause of your chirp, so pay special attention to it when you have it all apart, replace it if need be. The rebuild kit for it is like 65$ tho

oh well, at least most of this seems fairly easy to do

I've been driving in 2H for a while fighting this same battle. At first I went with the quick fix of a junker D/S just to keep me going. It worked well for a while buy now I've only used it for minor off roading.

Got stuck once with out the front installed and had to crawl in the mud to put it Bach in to get unstuck! It 'twas fun ill admit

Tom woods has some decent looking d/s but money is the game.

Working on taking the doors off recently, fighting with close quarters and t40 bits that keep breaking. I'm debating on cutting the pins an replacing them with quick pins. Or bolts n nuts.

Anyone done it a different way?

Be sure to pick up Spicer u-joints. I have been told they are pretty much the only u-joint to be trusted.
